We've wanted it forever! Actually, I used gamesalad on a mac once. It was kinda shitty. But at least I won't have to pay for istencyl, since I know my brother and dad are too cheap to do that even if it'll pay off.

Anyway, this is just the beta. I'm going to download it. You probably don't need a powerful computer for it considering that gamesalad is made for macs.

Isnt gamesalad paid software though? I dont understand how paying for Stencyl would be any different than paying for gamesalad, since you say that you wouldnt.

I downloaded gamesalad for free on a mac. I don't think you need to pay to publish, but if you want iAds and stuff you do.

The basic GameSalad licensee is free and that does include publishing to iOS etc. They don't give you important features with the free version and they force a splash screen. Unlike Stencyl, there is only one pricing model too, ether all or nothing and it's $300. It used to be $500, but maybe they realized charging $500 for beta software is a bit ridiculous. (yes it's still considered beta)

I've been checking out the Beta myself as well and I'm probably not allowed to talk specifics on it so I won't do that.

But my opinion is that GS is making good progress with this, but Stencyl is still the superior tool. Stencyl still has more freedom and GS still feels like it's holding your hand. Fortunately Jon moves at such a pace that GS continues to have a hard time keeping up.

I signed up for the beta, but I never received a download link. Any help?

It's a closed beta, they'll probably accept people in batches, like Jon did.

I was actually just directing that message towards Dizko, Rob. I know it seems silly asking him for help here, but many months ago I asked for help repeatedly and not one person responded.
I'm also guessing that most of the people there are mac users, and don't know anything about what the gamesalad people are doing with Windows.

On a side note, the name gamesalad is very off-putting. A salad has all the individual parts, and might not work as well, where as a homogeneous mixture like guacamole, or Stencyl, will work great.

Rhys, that seems like a reasonable explanation.

But GameSalad is horrendous.

I wasted 3 months on it.

True story, Gamesalad is a derped company, asking a so terrible high fee for their crappy service. If you have a bug in your game thats made with the framework that GS than you are screwed. Since they don't have a export to Xcode option GS is doomed :)

I love stencil,

Do you need art for your game? Here are some demo's from my upcoming game:

Just wanted to see how it was and...
*installed it*
*uninstalled it immediately*
Talk about unstable! The thing couldn't even launch. It opened, "loaded", then froze. I had to end it via the Task Manager.

I'm glad I'm using Stencyl. Stencyl is so much more stable, not to mention has a much better UI, and more features.
