So, for the last few days I've been working on a little web site to host some old school inspired arcade games. I'm talking manual arcade here, the sort of games you may have played as a kid in the sea side arcades.

The website is here www.arcadeluck.com

My two personal favs are 'XXXslots' (not dirty honest) and 'Penny Catch', but I would love to hear what you think.

Cheers

I've just tried the race and the penny catch atm 'cause I'm at work, but what I can say is that I really like the design of the website and the two games I've played. The website looks like a mix between a casino and an arcade.

I just think you should put "upgrades" on the website, like buying new backgrounds, fonts, headers, etc.. with the money you get in the games. :)

Also you should make a favicon !

Keep it up man, this is really good ! :)

Still on my first project.

Awesome thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you picked up on the casino/arcade look and feel of the website, that's exactly what I wanted to achieve!

I was thinking about a wrapper for the web site so that credit can be carried through games and spent, but I've really no idea how to do this at the moment.
And Favicon...ARGH! Can't believe I forgot that, I'll add one today :-)

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of the site. things say bet, but you're not betting anything, and the games are all completely un-interactive save for one.

when you launch a site you need to examine things objectively, and imagine if not for the novelty of having created it yourself, would you ever want to use this site?

I agree with Pete. What's the purpose of this site?

It says bet because your betting virtual money, that's your bet. And I can tell you something, a lot of games charge you for those virtual bets with no reward at all other than more virtual money. So that's the point. It's play for fun, experience a bit of inspired arcade action.

So objectively I have, looked into this, I work in the gambling industry. Alot of America does not allow bets to take place online but people still want to experience it, so here's a way to do it. And you know what? I did it for fun, for learning and because I wanted too.

It not about the novelty of launching a site it's about every thing else around it. Seriously, your askinge what's the purpose of this site? Open your eyes, if it's not for you fair enough, be constructive about your comments but don't sit there dismissing my site from a single narrow pointed of view. I've leant alot in setting up this and creating the games so where's the harm in that?

What are your posts for? They aren't interactive and they certainly can't win anything.

Come on, if he wanted to do it, why do you have to be so critical about it.

Ok, once again... "Who's it for?" people who want to experience casino, gambling, slots, out of home entertainment game play, just for fun!

And yes, you can win, you can win extra credit to continue your bet and you can try and beat your own high score (like most games)

Jesus, give me a break what are complaining about? "who's it for, what's it purpose, why play" Seriously have you tried making your own game or website?

It supposed to be FUN, with no ties attached, FUN. If you dont like it fair enough, I appreciate that, but please give me something constructive to go on, I find your comments just outright destructive and negative without reason or support.

You say the games aren't interactive and you cant win anything and once again I bring you to the point that there are a-lot of games that enforce the purchasing of virtual credits to win "virtual" credits. In my games I give you the credit with the challenge of you beating your own score. It's just fun and for me personally It's learning, I just thought I would share my work with you...

These posts are for the OP who solicited the forum to come visit his site, thereby making feedback fair game. And I'm not antagonizing anyone for the sake of it, but I'm giving you honest feedback. I admire the fact that you had an idea and worked on it and made it happen, but as it stands now, no one is going to use the site. There's simply no content. I can't imagine what user is going to go to a site to click a button to see which random outcome occurs. If the excitement of seeing something random happen without anything riding on it was real, then a pair of dice could replace your whole site and they don't need electricity or a computer.

suggestion would be to come up with some kind of site currency that could be used for something meaningful, or putting in games that actually are games that the user can play, or both.

I think pete was just curious, and you're the one who's blowing things out of proportion.

This isn't an arcade is an online casino in the works. Soon virtual credits will become actual credit cards. I personally don't find those kind of games to be interesting.

No, this is an arcade. It's just because I designed the web site and games with a casino look and feel to it that you think it's a casino. It's very much an arcade and the virtual credits will always stay virtual.
Have you tried 'Penny Catch' or 'Cannon Ball'?
These are very much skilled based, the others are pure luck or chance designed to replicate the "gamble" experience.
