Yes, for some reason. People are complaining of lag on my demo. It lagged for me when I tried it, but when I run locally, it's all great.

You can try for yourself.

I had tons of issues with this, and almost all of my peers at NG that developed with Stencyl have the same reports. Some people just have lag issues with stencyl products. I suspect it's probably just their junk machines and stencyl not running as efficiently as it can. I've made three games, all of which got these complaints. I've tried building things without using the physics and still the same thing. It seems anything with keyboard input has this issue. I'm going to try to build a mouse only game next, and see if I get the same complaints. I'm not sure if it is stencyl as a whole or just a specific feature or tool that is causing it. I would REALLY like to get it squashed, more global scores have been dropping since I've started releasing Stencyl built games and the lag is the complaint in question. Really stinks, I love the tool set.

I think 3.0 will stop a lot of those lag complaints.

I have received conflicting reports on lag on my games. I didn't know what was going on until one person was finally willing to do some investigating as to why it was slow for them. It turns out Stencyl games are a CPU % hog (I've made at least one post on this). If your computer can handle the CPU issue, the game runs smoothly... else it's like a snail.

I've also heard complaints about chrome and lag, but then they switch to firefox and it's all better. I'm really looking forward to trying out 3.0, I hope my current subscription lasts long enough to get it and try it out.

Chrome issues are far worse than just lag. Saving and loading doesn't even work (on Kongregate).

I've found that on Windows with the newest Flash Player our game lags a lot if embedded with wmode=opaque or wmore=transparent. In Flash Player 10.3 for Windows a "protected mode" was introduced, and it seems to be causing this (together with the wmode setting and something in Stencyl).

I don't know if this is the same issue as the one you are experiencing, but you can try to turn of protected mode to see if it helps.

Interesting! I'll be sure to give that a go and share my results. Thanks!

Thanks CC, that did indeed help with lag issues I've had :).

Newgrounds also seems to cap fps at 40 instead of 60.
One of the two expert stencylers to have done precisely nothing to earn their title... Oh damn, he did something and got promoted. I need to get to work. Until then, I'm unique?

I just simply use Firefox and allow myself to sit back and relax while my computer handles the games at their own rate (Plus: try turning off the lights. That helps, especially when you hide the advertisements, which contributes to slowdown. :) ): this iMac G5 typically gets the games at around 15 fps, 30 if you're lucky, and with my own Nine Pixel Game (This game is pretty incredible as far as how compact I've made it), up to 60. The worst that can happen is that it dips down to below roughly 10 fps, then I'll make sure to report it (though usually I feel more like going for it when it's below 5 fps). I've run into this before, and loading or saving a game continuously can cause this.
