The game looked pretty good as a starter. You do seem to pick things up quite fast. Looking forward to play the entire game when it's ready. Remember to save and backup often.

"My motivation is more to try to make a sort of "playable audio portfolio" to help me find more work doing composition and sound design with indie devs.  "

I think you will have plenty of opportunity in this aspect with Stencyl emphasis on collaboration and when it grow it's customer base. We are just at the dawn of the toolset and many new features are coming up. So just try to learn the tool well and cater your music to be more game centric. There are other initiatives like marketplace and others which will let you monetize your design down the road.

Sounds good. I appreciate the help I've gotten so far with figuring out how to make things work. It's a refreshingly open community.  As for the sounds, I do have a lot more "video-gamey" sounding stuff (chiptunes, etc).  I'm weighing the pros & cons of just including like 25 or 30 song coins in there and the player is just switching tunes every five or ten seconds.  Anyway, I'll take that discussion along with the WIP to the proper place once I feel it's ready for "peer review"  (by the way... what is the right forum for that?  The Game Ideas forum?)

In my case, data.xml got wiped out. Zero KB. This means you have to redefine actor and tileset data to say the least, and not to mention you have to physically modify the XML file to reassign the IDs... they must match what you originally had (refer to the filenames for the .png files, which contain the IDs right on them) Now that's painful... but since mine was relatively early in development, I was able to get back on track.

I'd like to let you know to please keep a copy of your game as a backup should corruption be the fate of your game. I had everything except the resources and its data (including custom blocks! Thankfully they were all from downloaded packs, and easily replaceable).

Oh, and psst... this game that I'm talking about is a personal project of mine. I've been trying to muster up the courage and perseverance to get this going for at least six years! Showcasing the game hasn't been one of my strong points... yet. I do have some ideas that haven't been thought of yet, though.

Yeah I'm looking forward to getting OSLion so that my stuff is constantly backed up and idiot proof.  As-is I've just been relying on time machine, but even then I forget to keep my backup drive plugged in. ::)

Anyway I just wanted to come back in here to confirm to anyone else who searches for this problem and comes across this thread that I wasn't able to fix it in the end.  Also Furby, I'm a fan BTW.  I'll keep my eye on whatever your secret 6 year project is.
