Video Playback

Always asked for yet it's tricky to make it work cross-platform. I also don't think video assets are the best thing for Stencyl itself to work with. What makes sense for us to do here?

I would think this would be best for extensions since Haxe doesn't support a cross-platform video player.

Does NME support loading SWFs cross-platform? If so, that could be an option.

The cross-platform SWF support is elementary and doesn't support video playback.

I know it's not a super standard like mp4, but this openfl extension supports multi targets for webm

What I would do, rather than having a full video, just export the video as a frame strip, then take the audio and play it at the same time the animation is, easy as that

I'm thinking about including simple video clips in my next app. Is there a tool (freeware would be good!) to strip a video file into several still images at a given interval? I could then import each frame into an actor's animation. Pretty tedious, but the videos would only be a few frames long in my case.

On iOS, we've got this.

If we can at least get Android working, I could formally introduce a block for it.
