How about a complete replacement of your current SFX package?

SFX package (all made with BFXR, though I can also make SFX in Schism Tracker with some samples... or use an online resource)
Usages:
BFXRBreak: For those bricks that break in the opening cutscene.
BFXRFall: This is a death-specific SFX ~ should the player fall, this plays along with the death jingle.
BFXRJump: Self-explanatory.
BFXRSaw: This is a death-specific SFX ~ should the player run into a saw, while he goes down, this plays along with the death jingle.
BFXRSelection: For use at the Title Screen (and if you collect the key, if you want)
BFXRStab: This is a death-specific SFX ~ should the player manage to land on some spikes or an arrow, this plays along with the death jingle.
BFXRSwitch: This plays when the player flips a switch, thus opening a door.

Death Jingle
Level Complete Jingle

Other ideas for custom-made tracks for your game:
1. Title Screen
2. Opening Cutscene

Really nice game so far. I've always liked treasure hunting themes.

KungFuKirby, while I like those sounds and I could use them sometime in different game, I don't think they fit this game very well, sure they are made with BFXR, but somehow they sound a bit too modern for retro style game.

Can you make sounds and music that sounds like they are from SNES game?

A complete redo it is on the sounds and music! I can definitely do SNES music... and believe me, I can make real SNES music!

I am making stage 10 a real boss this time and he will appear by falling, so I will probably use that BFXRFall you made. Now I just need a good tremor sound from when he lands on the ground.

I added stage 9 and I tried to add WASD controls by duplicating running and jumping behaviour and just giving them new buttons, but I had to remove it because that only caused the character to move twice as fast when both WASD and arrow keys were pressed. Guess I need to figure some other way to make it.

this is a small suggestion, it seems like I slow down a bit every time I grab the key (it's not very noticeable but it killed me a few times in stage 7) maybe if you set the key's collision box to be a sensor the player might not get slowed.

This game is very addicting and fun. I couldn't quite finish though, I experienced the freezing issue also. I believe flash crashed because of a collision. It happened on the level with the saw, I stood in the left corner and when the saw touched me the game froze along with my browser (firefox).
Other than that it was very fun. Will definitely be checking back later for updates if you figure out the issue.

I keep adding more and more stages till my game is finally full version, but I have no idea what is causing the crashing. I made a thread about it to the Bugs section, hoping that some nice dev would take a look at the issue. http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,1680.0.html

The game has 17 stages now and I have managed to fix the nasty bug that causes freezing when the character gets killed by sharp objects coming from above!

Can you let us know how you manage to resolve the freezing bug? With that, are there any other freezing bugs in your game?

Your game is great as everyone knows. You can make a franchise name out of it.

Thank you for your kind opinion.  :)

The bug was fixed surprisingly easily by just setting the hitboxes of sharp objects as sensors. I feel silly I didn't think of that before, but hey, this is my first Stencyl game ever and I am still learning.

The hitbox system Stencyl uses really seems to dislike physical object crushing another physical object between tiles.

The game still has the bug that causes freezing when moving platform crushes the character between walls Fixed! I moved couple of the moving blocks so they don't touch the walls anymore and they can't crush and freeze the player.

I also added the awesome retro sounds and music KungFuFurby made, woo!

Here's all four of the current tracks in SNES form. The Death and Level Complete themes are once again my own.

In-game BGM
Death
Level Complete
Boss Battle

Bug: Dying too quickly prevents the scene from restarting. I know exactly how to fix the bug... I've done this before for my own game (though it wasn't for a death... I haven't even programmed that!). ^_^

Sweet! Now these sound much more like what I was looking for! Thank you!

If you can make songs for fire and water themed dungeons, could you make them to sound bit like these?

Water http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqGhiflxbT0
Fire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jr1Iw5IEmE

Also because the stages are fairly short, the songs don't need to be very long :)

Heh, Stage 10 is probably the most challenging one up to date, but it is far from impossible.

Couple of hints for the stage: don't jump on every platform when climbing, the character can jump over three blocks in a single jump. Also the character moves bit faster in air so jump a lot. Though the stage can be beaten fairly easily without much jumping as well.

After I get enough stages I might take stage selection out of main menu and add a saving option, so choosing load game in the main menu brings you to the stage you last played.
