I was wondering if we could get a bunch of people to try to clone a mario stage together. Bascially we could all work from this image as a template: http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/SuperNES/SuperMarioAll-Stars-SuperMarioBros3-World1-1.png
As people work we can exchange ideas and things and this will help us practice and get used to Stencyl. Who is on board?

This has to be one of the greatest levels of all time just for it's amount of secrets for a first level :)

I don't see exactly how you want everyone to build one level? I mean, the biggest work would be building the engine. Making this level would be a piece of cake, but it can hardly be done by more than 1-2 people.

Ironically, I've seen Super Mario World Level 1-1 being done by someone during beta times but could not remember who did  it.

I think it was Irock.

Thanks Joe. If anyone like to have the game/kit, just pm Irock and see if he is willing to put it up for us.

I remember it's almost a full clone. Very nicely done. But cannot find it on Forge anymore.

Uhh, I did a hastily made Super Mario Bros 1-1 clone in 2009, but that was when Stencyl used Java. It was based on the Jump and Run kit.

Are you thinking of that old Mario editor?

I was referring to the 1-1 clone but didn't realize it was from the Java days.

Any chance you can put it together with the new engine and make a tutorial out of it?

The Jump and Run kit takes care of 90% of the engine, it's just a matter of tweaking the attribute values.  Then the rest is just importing the graphics into stencylworks

Hmm.. actually I'm working on a super mario game with resources from SMW, not meant to clone any level tho.. but I want to make some kind of world map but I don't want to put too much time into that, so any ideas on how it can easily be done? ... thinking.. would a level where parts of the terrain disappear and unlock levels work out well? :)

True, but I would like to see how to even start doing AI and things like that.
