Stencyl forge, where people can share their art . . . Artist for hire

I look through the graphics area for possible places to find some pictures since the forge has almost nothing uploaded and I see all these ads for artists selling their ability. The point of stencyl forge is to have a community of programmers and artists uploading stuff for the community. What I find all over the forum are people selling art instead of uploading it to forge. Dont be greedy, upload some stuff to the forge. It drastically needs it.

You can't force people to share it, all wanna earn money, and the ones there make art, use a huge time to make it.
If you want some real art you have to buy it.
You can't get everything in the like for free ^_^
I know forge needs some free art, but it firstly needs people there want to make it for free ;)

There is a lot of very good, free art linked to from these forums. Have a look around

Xandramas, try to tell us something you are satisfied with, or ask specific questions. Whining gets you nowhere.  ;)

No. That would suck. Every game would either look the same and be some hackneyed mess of art assets that clearly don't belong with one another.

If you're gonna make your own game, you're gonna need your own unique art assets.

Forge is a nice concept. No really..

I think some of us would be willing to donate to forge, but considering the state of it, we can have better strategy than randomly drawing bears and bottles and putting on forge :P
If there was some 'post your wishlist' system somewhere, we can start providing what most people are looking for.

For a game low enough on scope, it probably wouldn't hurt to use art assets from the Forge. But if your game has any ambition to it or if you're trying to sell it as your own original idea, you'd probably be better off staying far away from art posted on the Forge. Even if it had a decent selection of stuff on it.

forge is perfect for new game designers. Anybody using forge isnt going to expect to make a whole lot of money off their project.

It's a collaboration, darling.

You're a programmer? That's great.

Post in the forum of your mad programming skillz and swap assets with an artist. You program their stuff if they'll do art for your stuff. It's a much better system than just putting together a bunch of assets that don't look good together.
