Pixel and Glow effects

Can someone show me an example on how to do this for a sprite. I want it to glow and explode into pixels when it dies.I hope this isn't demanding too much but I don't seem to know how to do it.

Apparently flash does support post-processing effects in the form of 'filters' etc by utilising various forms of hardware acceleration. The technology used to implement this is called Pixel Bender:

However, I'm not sure if this has been integrated into Stencyl under the hood, or if it's a coming feature. I would very much like to see full-screen pixel-shading in the form of layer based filters, or something to that effect.
