Drivin' Along

Update!

Alright. I was just too excited to wait until I'm finished with the game to release it, so I decided to show a little update with 5 levels (by the way level 5 isn't done yet...).

Help!
Ok cool! I got the main menu up and running (with some background music). But now for some reason it won't replace the original. Any ideas why?

What's Updated?
  • Gas follows the car
  • Finish line flag
  • Moving platforms
  • Scoring system
  • Death trap (I'm not sure what to call it but.. you'll figure out what I'm talking about)
  • Keys to unlock doors
  • A little work with joints
  • And a whole bunch of other stuff that would probably make this bullet point list really long

Now what I hope to get into the full and final version is....

  • A scoring system that keeps your score between levels
  • A saving feature
  • 2 more different themed level packs that can only be unlocked by collecting a certain amount of coins
  • And I'd like to try to upload this to Kongregate if it gets good reveiws
  • Oh.. and a better honk  ;D

So anyway I hope everyone likes this update and please, please give me questions, comments, and also maybe tips on how to accomplish the things I want in the final version. Thanks, and enjoy!!

Hey guys this is my first game I'm attempting to create using pretty much 99% StencylForge. I hope to become even better at making games using Stencyl, because well, it's pretty awesome! :)

Spoiler: Use the 'shift' key to honk your horn (a working progress).

Why it is so slow? I have average speed of 15 fps.

There are no impossible things. There is only lack of skills.

Great job. I am getting 35-40 fps (even with debug on) on a slower browser (firefox compared to chrome) and a dinosaur 10 year old computer.

I like it! There's a lot of potential here. I love the background and the bouncing when you land is a nice touch.

I'm with Darkhog. 15 fps. The maximum on my end is actually around 30 fps.

When you guys say slow do you mean the car moves slow, or that the game goes-stops-goes-stops? I seemed to have trouble with that while making the game. It turned out I had added extra behaviors onto the scenes and once they were gone it made the game run a lot smoother. When the full version is released it should be fixed (...I hope  ;D).

Wow. Vast improvement and addition of your work done days ago.  I need to play through it when I get a chance later today.

Played a little more. I think you need to make it more interesting by adding different challenges. Maybe a topdown map with a little bus to show what you will be encountering next - city, mountain area, bad slippery road/weather. Some background music will also help.

I love your ideas!! I never thought about bad weather, and a top down map would be pretty cool (if I can figure out how to do that  ??? ).  I've got music that starts playing in the menu, but, as you can see the menu isn't working on Stencyl. It freezes up the whole game... I'm working on that! I think this game for me is basically a "learn everything you can do with StencylWorks" project.  But I still want to make it a game enjoyable to play, so thanks very, VERY much for playing and for your comments.
