Hi everyone!
I think I'm going to learn to model in 3D, since that would open up more doors in my art.

But what free program is good for making 3D art? I've heard about Blender, but I wanted to hear about there is better programs out there.

Could you also post some "get started with 3D buildings/enviroment/characters"?

Google really has some good information.  I found one free program a few years ago and tons of tutorials for it.
PM me if you require help.  I'm always glad to help out!

If you're looking for free softwares , then Blender is probably the best or maybe Google Sketch Up ..

Blender<3 Pretty steep learning curve, but everything starts to click into place eventually, and you can do some real bad ass stuff.

You can also get Maya for free if you're a student, or you pretend to be a student. I think it has an even steeper learning curve than Blender.

I don't really know why people say Maya has a steep learning curve ; It's pretty easy to use IMO .

SketchUp (formerly from Google) is a good one to start with.

I've been learning Blender. Theres a number of free solutions, but none have the massive community blender does, which means tutorials/forums for everything you'll need to know and more updates/plugins.

I started with anim8or.  For me it was the easiest to download and play with. But after using blender now just makes anim8or feel very limited.
