We've been in the ed-tech radar from day 1, when none other than Audrey Watters posted about us and framed us in an educational context, which led to us being picked up by Richard Byrne, a popular ed-tech blogger. More recently, Audrey blogged again about us on Hack Education.

Education-Focused Site

In early 2014, we launched a mini-site dedicated to educators. This site presents a compelling case for using Stencyl in the classroom and backs this up with our Educator's Kit.

Educator's Kit

At the end of 2014, we launched our Educator's Kit. This kit is a free, printable packet of materials that any educator can use to "teach" using Stencyl. It includes a simple curriculum, setup instructions for self-installation or passing to IT and some flyers/letters for posting up at school or handing to colleagues / parents / decisions makers to spread the word about Stencyl.

(Note: The projects that come bundled with the Educator's Kit require Stencyl 3.2 or later to function)

What comes next?

With the release of the Educator's Kit, we're going to let the feedback roll in. While we have some concrete ideas about where we'd like to head next, we'd like to hear from our educators to make sure our plans are in alignment with your needs.

When I learned about Stencyl I immediately thought of the kids in my dad's class who could benefit from having the software available to ease them into learning how to program. Looking forward to seeing the mini-site.

I'd suggest to contact code.org to affiliate with you in some way if possible. if they promote scratch, why not to promote Stencyl?

Stencyl can be a phenomenal teaching tool. It's great for beginners because it's a fun and easy way to introduce game development and programming. For advanced users – wow – the rabbit hole goes deep.

It seems like there's a lot more Stencyl can be doing in the field of education. I'm not sure if educators have caught on to the usefulness of Stencyl in a classroom. With the launch of 3.0, it seems like there should be more activity here. Stencyl is a free download and it runs on most modern computers. With a license, it publishes to many different platforms. I'm surprised to see that there isn't more activity in this part of the forum.

Our education plans go far deeper than anybody in public can see at the moment, but I can assure you that we have already have a firm foothold here. The bulk of education activity is never going to be seen or reflected in a forum because educators (and a lot of customers for that matter) don't communicate via the forums.

That's good to know.  Stencyl seems like an ideal tool for teaching the next generation of developers.
