I'm working on a game about treasure hunting gentleman and a scholar!



You need to clear each level in under 10 seconds before the temple crumbles down and crushes him.

Kind of wish I could have come up with more clever use of 10 seconds theme, but time is running so I decided to just go with this.

Hehe, I think I'm doing a similar mechanic (and I don't expect to be the last either)! But 10 seconds isn't a lot of time, so I have a few variations on the rule...

My (ambitious) game involves tactical maneuvers that last ten seconds. That's all you get for now. ;)

Now, to actually start coding soon...

EDIT: Also, designing a 2D grid system in Stencyl is very annoying.

Ludum Veterans, please help:

1. What is the difference between the two:
Ludum Dare 27 Compo Ends: in 1 day, 9 hours, 46 minutes, 53 seconds
Ludum Dare 27 Jam Ends: in 2 days..


2. Can i sign up at the last minute, when my game is over ? Will having a new account affect my entry votes or anything ?

Let me give a bit of an explanation.

I have only actually worked on this game for 2 hours. This is because...

I had an original idea which interpreted 'Second' as second place and you had to end up second 10 times in a row. Then 4 hours in, after I had done all of the graphics (for a playable game at least) I had a reality check.

I only have 14 working hours left for this jam.
I have assumed I can create complicates AI in that time.
The game isn't particularly fun.
It would take a lot of time to balance things and implement the different game modes I want.
The graphics weren't particularly high quality due to the quantity being made.
I was getting distracted proving the game wasn't interesting

Due to these reasons and a few more which I can't think of at the moment I scrapped the game, but still have the playable 1 player prototype incase I want to go back to it after the jam. After this I spent 20 minutes brainstorming (yes I know that isn't very long but my schedule was messed up) and came up with a new idea.. A fighting game where you have 10 seconds to K.O. your opponent. Due to the diffuculty of the AI I decided that I would make it two player. I don't mind about whether I do well in Ludum dare (which I probably won't due to the 2 player part of the game) but I do care whether I make a game of which I am proud of. I'm not proud of a game whichI don't belive that is enjoyable or I didn't enjoy making as there is clearly something wrong if that happens.

I may or may not finish this, and I'm not exactly sure how it will end up. All I can tell you is this:

working demo, the idea is to build your colony, and its drone factories, fast enough to provide defenses.

The drones spawn every 10 seconds.
the enemies spawn every ten seconds and evolve/diverge (the number in the top left is the current number of different species)

Not finished bits
The idea is the game ends when an enemy reaches the middle.

Between retries the player can spend upgrade points to upgrade drone and building stats.

the ui draw order is borked. needs a total redo from start, as well as the map.
