I want to finish it this winter.
Next steps are finishing the last levels.
Adding the missing assets (portraits and story screens).
Finding a final name...and decide how i will release it.

It's all coming together, that's great! I'm going to miss this journal, though. You'll have to start a new project after this is all done.

Thanks a lot and no need to worry:
  • First, i will need some more month to finish it.
  • Second, i want to share how the distribution goes as well (i dont think it will sell well but it needs to be part of the whole process).
  • Third, i already have so many ideas to work on afterwards (see below)

Stencyl would not be as much fun as it is is with this little but lovely community.

The first concept was about being a space pirate. Now the story is much richer and yes..you kind of turn into a space pirate...but this is not what you decide for yourself. There for...lets see. I will ask you guys for sure for your opinion.

From what you've said, it sounds like there is an element of player choice in this game. Is this the case?

Not a choice in a sense that the game branches.
Lets just say...you are starving infront of your neighbours fridge.
What are you going to do?

I worked on the transition between levels when you are not entering the starmap (kind of like a interstellar jump). It was difficult to come up with something which lets the transition fade appear like an animation.
  • i fade to white
  • i add background layers when transitioning
  • a bit a shaking and playing around with the scrolling speed of the background
  • using the right sounds helps a lot
Have in mind that the stars are actors and not background.

I will advance it but i like it already:

I like the transition. One suggestion, though--I think if you position the flashing lines so that they line up with the stars currently drifting by then it will give a better illusion of speed.

I actually had that but it was crushing my performance. I need to spend a bit more time on it to get it right but this will happen in the polishing phase.
