At first glance it looks simple and invititing but upon closer inspection I can see it's more intricuit than I previously thought.
Nice job.

I like it!
The chest looks like background because of the grey outlines.
You might want to change it if it could be opened.

I didn't want to make it stand out too much as it might make it seem solid or pushable which is not the case here

So... It's been a while; I've been on a short hiatus from making games, but I'm back and of the 4 games that are partially finished I've decided this will be the first

I've finished testing and modifying the first (mainly action based) part of Mono. The next part will be more puzzle based. There will be around 5 sections this large although this one will take the shortest time to complete as it is simply platforming.

Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

I was a bit confused when i faced the door on the right at start.
Usually i go to the right in platformers. I tried to open the door using the sign (tapping the down button because it looked like an interactive element to me).

Maybe you want to advance that a bit or its just me ;)
Keep up the good work!

I haven't actually added the sign introductory text yet XD. It'll be there though.

So, the game has evolved into a super difficult fast paced dashing platformer rather than an adventure rpg, just becuase I simply did not feel I was capable of making one of those.

I have completed the first 9 levels, there are 12 in each world, and I have 4 worlds planned.

The levels I have made are the main 9. In addition to these levels, there is a boss level, a super difficult level made available by getting a platinum time for every main level in the world and a hidden level, which in the first world is accessible from a hidden door in level 7 (See if you can find it)

As i haven't implemented the platinum scores yet I'll give you a list here, the platinum scores are mostly about 0.5 seconds off my best:

01: 2.5
02: 5.5
03: 6.5
04: 3.8
05: 3.5
06: 3.0
07: 4.7
08: 4.5
09: 3.8

I haven't actually explained it in the game yet, but you can use the z key to dash in addition to the arrows and you can jump on top of the falling enemy as it has a platform on it's head. Oh yeah, and r key to restart a level, and x key to move onto the next level while you are at a door.

Play the demo now

Feels good so far!

But why to i have to press x while standing infront of the door ?
Espially when the player locks in that position.
I would just move to the next level automatically.

Have you considered putting more effort into a dying animation?
Slower blending over and a lot red blood (only color in game).
Could have a nice effect and i am dying a lot.

Cheers!

You have to press x because I am going to add in a level complete screen that pops up so you can select to go to the next scene, or to retry to improve your time.

As for the dying animation, that sounds like a good idea.
