GameZone I dont feel the pisscups. I dont think the game is THAT random. And the setting will move to an urban jungle location after the desert segments.

And thanks DeathMooseStudios!

I like the NES cartridges. Perhaps they could be important objects to the people of this world, like holy relics?

That's something I can agree with.

Don't worry, curiosity is a good thing! Without curiosity, no one would have ever wondered if it was possible to make a lightbulb! We'd all be stuck with oil lamps and candles. :(

Cold beer. Just what a barbarian needs after a hard day's killing.

the beer should replenish the health.

Making unique collectable relics to find in every area would give you room to use the NES cartridges, as well as a slew of other rad things, like the pornos, or anything else rad you can scheme.

Id like to see a motorbike level.

I started making this last year in the spring when my son was born. I was on a leave from work and had to come up with something to do as my boy slept most of the day. I made some games back in my teenage years with GamesFactory and Multimedia Fusion but they never became anything. But Stencylworks really clicked with me and Barbarium is a game that I can see myself finishing.

Nowadays I dont have that much time as I have a dayjob and most of my evenings go watching my boy, who just learned to crawl. I still try to find time every week to work on this game and I have made some serious progress.

So to answer your question, I have worked on this game for 8 months but in reality I have worked on it maybe a month or so.

I have toyed with the idea of the beer being some kind of strength boost. There's already steaks in there that replenishes the health.
I have actually also thought about motorbike levels as some kind off shmup bonus stages. Like in the new Rayman game. Ofcourse they would be flying Harley Davidssons...  But I think that I will keep this game a straight platformer.

Awesome game! :D

Thanks! I feel a bit ashamed that the demo here is so out of date, hopefully I will get it updated soon. I just always feel that it isn't ready and I start to add another feature that multiplies the amount of work I have left.

I had to publish the game again instead of updating the old. The old one had different screen size and that messed it up completely... But here it is, hope you enjoy it! http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/10899

And hopefully it doesn't lag much, it is a pretty heavy game.

Great job! This is a great looking game.

1) Give this game a logo/icon - I've featured it as a staff pick.
2) It pauses for a while between scenes - are you doing anything special in there?
3) The up/down platforms get me stuck and prevent me from jumping or moving left/right.

Thanks Jon! Appreciate the publicity. I'll make a logo when I get home from work. I have one all ready but forgot to upload it. The pause between the scenes is a tricky one. It doesn't happen to me on a browser, but I can notice it when I run it in stencylworks. I guess its because the scene switcher behaviour and that there is so many actors in the scenes.
I haven't had problems with the platforms myself but I have to try and repeat the bug later in the evening. It's just nine in the morning in Finland :P

Do we get a jet pack somewhere?

The tunnelling bug stops coming after a while and bounced off the top of the entry to the final room  a few times. Even with a jetpack, beats me how to get to some areas.
