The Steamworks API as far as I know, is optional.
But, if you want to be able to track Statistics
(how many players complete your game, which level player takes too long to complete..etc),
or integrate Steam Achievements in your game, among other features, you need the API.

You guys prefer games with achievements on steam or no ?

Do you play for achivements ?

Some players that uses Steam, at least the hardcore ones, prefer games with achievements.
This sometimes can encourage players to finish your game,
and brag about their achievements in social medias/forums. Can be a great marketing.

Personally, I don't really play games for achievements. (Most developer don't?)
I don't really have a lot of free time to hunt for them.

Hey cool !
thanks for the sharing !
HYPPEE !

The only thing i'm afraid of is when you upgrade to stencyl 3.0 and more you get too much errors trying to export the game
Damned
But i need first to work on my upgrading star and light version (better work of the tutorial , better graphics probably and a rework of the platform behaviors)
