Can you escape the mind of a madman?

Original first post:

After scratching my head for a while I think I settled on a game. My usual problem with LD is that I get too ambitious, so I'm going to scale back and do something simple this time around. Hopefully I won't be scrambling to get the art/sound done, and I'll have a nicer-looking product.

Still working on the mechanics details, but the gist is that you're a sea monster (of course), swimming around and eating things. The basic game has been done before (usually, you play as a fish and grow bigger as you eat them--allowing you to eat bigger fish, and so on)... so I need to put my own little twists in.

Check out hungry shark evolution. It might give you some ideas for your game.

I keep going back and forth between two vastly different games. This has been a pretty tough theme  :-\

Idea #2 is more story driven. I think it would have more impact, but less of a fun factor. I doubt I can make both games.

I reverted back to the first idea I had and am finally happy with the direction things are going. Would've been nice if I didn't waste that much time on the sea monster game... but I may bring it to life some other time.

Am making good progress on a short explanation exploration game. I think it's a bit more appropriate for LD--fits the theme better, is quick (so hopefully people will finish it during the judging process), and has a bit more going for it in terms of mood and scenery.

Nice merrak.
Explanation game? That will be interesting, I never heard about that term or do you mean exploration?
But I guess if you are wandering around the game could explain about the surroundings. Interesting!

Have fun.

Whoops.. that should've been "exploration". I blame my own mental autocorrect for that one.

Nice.

Loved it. At first I was confused about how ambiguous everything was. But kept playing and saw it was intentional. Wow, great job. Loved it, loved the ending.

In some places it's intentional, but in some places it's not. Time to sit back and reflect seems to be a rare luxury in LD, but I think it's the sort of thing I could polish in a post-comp version.

Thanks for checking it out!
