Cannot export to SWF

FNT is a font.

The error in your logs points to a file that is invalid for some reason, but it does not state which file. I would make a backup of your game, then try removing fonts, sounds, tilesets, and actors one-by-one until you figure out which one is causing the problem. You may have to remove scenes and behaviors too. If you end up with an empty game and it still doesn't work, then we'll have to try something else!

Again, make sure you backup your game first! I would just copy the entire game directory somewhere safe.

You can also upload the broken game to Forge (set to public afterwards). I'll like to try to isolate the problem too.

Problem with export to swf usually points to the following unless you have exceeded certain game size which I can't remember off hand (is  it 16MB?).

First, see if you can publish any of the stencyl sampled games. If so, try these guides from one of our users (rayonmazter). I would say 80-90% certainty that it would fix your problem.

You have an mp3 uploaded into the game i'm assuming.

Take all the meta-data out of that mp3 (right click, properties, all the non-static information, remove it). Also convert the mp3 down to 64 or 128 kbit rate.

Samples hz       Bit Depth       Bitrate (kbps)
44.1khz       16       128

Quote

Files encoded using 'standard' MP3 format at CONSTANT bit rate will normally play, provided the sample rate is a multiple of 44.1kHz - other 'interpolating' sample rates cause Flash Player to speed up the playback. Sample rates of 96000, 44100, 22050 and 11025 samples/second at 8, 16 and 32 bit depth will all work fine.

Why is this an issue in Stencyl?
I can act like I know for sure, but I don't. I think Adobe Flash auto-converts uploaded files to the library to working formats for flash player, as where stencyl just uploads your files as-is.
To ask that stencyl auto-converts our media is a bit much, so it's perhaps one slightly 'advanced' thing we have to do when working with Stencyl.
Perhaps an update will be made in the future to resolve this.

You may need to remove all sounds, re-convert them, add them again, then select the sound files in code again as they will reference to nothing since you removed their previous references.

Thank you.

Here's the offending lines in your log:
Quote
[LOG] unsupported sampling rate (0Hz)
[LOG] Unable to transcode ../game/resources/8.mp3.

One of your MP3s is not in the correct format. Check out Robs post above mine for the correct format.

This is more directed towards Cole.

Seeing you are able to find the offending lines in the log file, do you have certain standard approach you use or keywords you search besides Errors/Warnings so that you can root-cause the problem easier.

I kinda of like to automate this error search process.

I usually just scan it with my eyes, starting from the bottom. In the cases of incorrect sounds, though, you could search for "transcode".

Ok. I'll gather up a personal database of these keywords and such and do a small parser so that I can get to these problem areas faster in the future. Thanks.

Actually, it looks like "transcode" would be a flag for a lot of problems related to missing/corrupt resources.

Thanks. So that should be a word I should look for in my log? I would like to see stencylworks create a summary error log so that anyone, be the user or the people helping with debugging, can tell what's the problem with just a quick glance at this log.

I don't see any reason why SW could not at least report those same error in a dialogue. If it can be logged as a problem with an MP3, it should be reported to the user as such.

We'll be looking into this for sure.

You mean you're seeing the same error in your logs? Do you mean you can't export SWFs or you can't publish?
