You could add in a wind component to add kind of an opposing force that would have to be actively fought against.

Here's a little "doodle" I was doing. I was thinking of a mountain scene with fog on the ground... although the fog is looking more like a river.

The fog does make it a bit like a river but i know you can make er better. Looking good all the same.

Wow!  That's awesome.  Great job.   The only problem with this idea is that you don't get the hands fumbling around anymore, which I feel like was such a great addition and a very good in-game indicator for the player.
