Nice start!

The throwing 'candy' reminds me of my throwing a ball with simulated 3d effect.
Maybe you can use the technique that merrak showed with a shadow.

I created a door and a light:

And an elevator:

About the game

The idea of the game is a "sandbox of creatures". A mixture of Pokemon and Terraria.

Now lack create a laboratory of biological experiments.

The laboratory:

The cards:

The cards will be procedural generate. Total 4.096 types.

Now I have to think how make the procedural creatures with 4 colors and diferent parts.

I do an extension to that? Does anyone have any suggestion?

I did something like this for the last Ludum Dare. Each creature consisted of several actors, one for each body part, displayed over each other. DNA determined which animations were looping.

Hand-drawing 4,096 varieties ought to be doable. For example. with 5 different body parts and 4 varieties each, along with the 4 colors, you would have 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 x 4 = 4,096 variations out of 24 unique animations.

24 unique animations I did not understand.

I thought that way:

4 chiffres
4 heads
4 bodies
4 wings
4 feet

4 ^ 5 = 1,024
1.024 x 4 colors = 4,096

Parts

Examples

This stay quite bizarre.  I do not know if it's a robot or clown. :D

But, the forms are correct. They are like in any drawing.
The aesthetics or content that is not my strong.

New examples:

I realized that I do not need of exact positions because are few types.

I can do a little big or small. And after program the different positions according to the type of body, head, etc.

I also realized that not use horns or feet,  it is also a type of horn or foot.

It looks nice! But what do you mean by "chiffre"? It means digit or figure (numbers) in French, but I really can't find whant you mean by that.

I also do not know where I got it. kkk

Chifre in portuguese is horn, cuerno, corne, corno.

Wikipedia:
Quote
Un chiffre est un signe, ou symbole, auquel est associée une valeur numérique et dont la fonction est de représenter les nombres ou écrire un numéro.

A figure is a sign, or symbol which is assigned a numerical value and whose function is to represent numbers or write a number.

In reality it makes sense in my game. The size of the figures represent numbers. kkk

But it was a coincidence, synchronicity or error same.

I really like your pixel art, especially the candle. Is that light effect part of the candle actor? Or a separate partially transparent actor?
