I have been able to spend more time developing the game lately. I'm going to be updating more frequently since I've been making a decent amount of progress.

I have been working on behaviors for this game and realize I need to figure out all the functions needed for this game before I move further. I've spent time doing that and scripting the game while trying to control the scope and not let myself run wild lest I crash and burn, after all it is only my second game.

I struggled greatly trying to figure out the tile based movement and I thank all those who replied and helped me.

Use the direction keys to move and  press "enter" to reload.

Above is an example of what I have come up with, It needs polishing but as I have stated before I must figure things  out a lot more before developing it further.

Edit: Graphics are placeholder btw.

More updates to come.

The movement controls are very smooth and the tile based movement is a very good idea.
But the  battle thing needs to be worked upon.
I would like to play the finished game.

Ive been working on this game nonstop for weeks. Ive learned a lot. Ive hit several walls. I dropped the tile based movement, though I found multiple ways to implement it I could not get it to where I wanted it and lack confidence in it.

I'm hoping to have a prototype up with random battles, items, equipment, overworld, towns, at least one cutscene, in game menu, skills/magic, npcs, and dialogue with generic assets from opengameart in the next five days.

I wanted to give up, I go back and forth everyday but I always wanted to create a RPG since I played pokemon blue, final fantasy 5, chrono trigger and my favorite, Final fantasy 6.  I'll have more up soon...

Good luck on your projects everyone.
