Hello,

Has anyone some experience with unRAID?

  lime-technology : unRAID vendor

If so, what kind of hardware are you running it with?!

I was thinking about core i7 with cache-pool of some SSDs.
I want to use it with virtual machine(s) to do the Stencyl stuff.

Am I also correct that the more memory and cores the faster the compilation is going to be? Or do you experience less effect since for instance command line visual studio doesn't run multithreaded during (link) process??!?

Any advice would be welcome!

Did some testing on my own.
unRAID was not a success.

Blog post : background story

Conclusions :

Test results for a Windows 8.1 VM running on VirtualBox with the same Stencyl project ‘ Run (windows) ‘  [Stencyl build : 9511 ]
iMac i7 Mac OX SATA 7 minutes
Acer i5 Windows SATA 9 minutes
Acer i5 Windows SSD 5 minutes
Acer i5 Linux SATA 6 minutes
Acer i5 Linux SSD 3 minutes

So Linux running on i5 with a Windows VM has best performance. So I am going to get me a 400GB SSD and a 16 core = 32 Threaded machine to access from my Desktop.

Extra information:

I tried Linux VM but I didn't had the 9511 release and used the latest 9637 release.
But I was flabbergasted about the performance. It was slow!
12 Minutes to run to publish to Linux!

When I checked the Windows 9637 Stencyl Build it was about the same: 11 minutes to do a Windows publication !!!!

Flash seems to be faster so that will be my developing-target for the time being!
