Hi !
if you want to test the first scenes of the project :
https://rature.itch.io/wheniwasakid-test-scene-1

bye :) !

Uh, I was playing your game (and failing terribly as I do with every game I play), and at one point the screen just faded to red when I landed on part of the ground. Nothing was there and I ended up back of the start of the game. Is there a life count or something that's invisible to the player?

Also those platforms in the fifth (I think) scene move a bit slowly.

Other than that great game!

Edit: Fade to red happened again. I've made it past that point to the many-eyed creature (once) and it killed me.

Later edit: Made it back to the many-eyed thing and it started chasing me. Is there a way to escape or is that the end of the game so far?

hey !
thank-you @NickamonPoppytail for playing and testing,

yeah i forget to re-initialize attributes related to the red fade, that's explain the bug you saw...
basically the red fade will "transport" the hero into the world of the "many eyed" (the lava world), but for the moment the game simply restarts.

I will correct the bug after the sylvester, add the "intro scenes", and show some screenshots of the Lava World.. ;)

You could create a Boolean game attribute and set it to true when the Sylvester starts chasing the player, and transport the player to the second world if the Attribute is true, because I had to hold left in midair to not get the fade to red.

Can’t wait for more! :)

Hey, I tried the demo, and I love the style. I also like the way the challenges progress. If I may make some suggestions:

Maybe add some FX to indicate important events; for example, some kind of lens flare or hit effect when the player hits one of those ghost orbs, and maybe a color change or particle effect when the player is in the mushrooms that slow him down.

Also, I got stuck in the level with the rotating platforms; the third jump just felt a hair too far; I fell on it about a dozen times then gave up (of course, you might intend for the game to be really hard, but I kind of think there is plenty of challenge for this early in the game – assuming this is still intended to be the very first level.) Also, since you say your main intention is to tell a story, it is probably a good idea to avoid frustrating players, especially early on before they understand what is going on in the narrative so they get hooked.

All that said, your platformer is way better and more refined the one I'm working on, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt. Great work, especially with the minimalist art. Cheers!

I wasn't able to get the demo to run (Chrome said that Flash wasn't installed, even though it is..?), but from the screenshots I really like the art direction. Looks great! Am interested in trying it out, so hopefully I can fix my browser.

Has any progress been made on the game? I haven’t heard much since January this year.

Neat Idea, funny enough I’m working on a platformer with a very childish doodled art style so it’s interesting that someone else is making a “somewhat” similar game... kinda
Plot Twist... I'm a ghost

hey ! hello there,
I had a break on this project because when I started I didn't know much about stencyl so I made a lot of mistakes (import x1 instead of x4 ... etc... ) but now I have Stencyl Studio so I'll do some gamejams and come back to work on this project.
