Hello everyone,

I have used stencyl for making an app, not a game. You can check out the app "count down timer for new year" from the link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ineasoft.newyear

I know it has been asked in the forums before but; why does stencyl support only making games? Stencyl is a great tool for making mobile applications and I think it would be great if we could make native apps using stencyl.

I am looking forward to your comments about this.

Thank you =)

Stencyl was designed to create games, but as Squeeb says, he uses for all types of apps, as I'm sure other people do. I'm actually planning a non-game app myself.

You'll find that a lot of the terminology refers to game making, but you can use it for anything.
Current Projects:
Retro Redux Compilation (NEW).
Retro Redux (untitled) (NEW).
I always appreciate useful feedback. Thank you.

It would make more sense to call Stencyl a program for making software, as saying just games implies that making games is all Stencyl is capable of.
I’m the guy who made the Poppytail series, The World of Elecreatures, Century Game and Easter Fun.

I know it has the capability of doing other apps too. But wouldn't it be better if we could put textboxes, buttons ...etc.

I have another question for you guys, can we make the soft keyboard(of the phone) appear in our apps by entering a code, and make a text appear on the screen?

All those things are possible. There were extensions that can support these. Unfortunatley, I can't point you to the exact direction. Look around though.

Good stuff, hopefully once Stencyl 3.5 is released someone might look in to making an extension for HAXE UI  http://haxeui.org which would make building other stuff much easier - especially text boxes etc
