3 Star ranking system

Hey,

Before I ask this question, maths really isn't my strong point and even after a bit of Googling I still can't struggle to understand, so would love some help on my following question:

Supposing I have a score to beat (2300) and playing my game I get (900) - How can I put in thresholds to reward up to 3 stars for different scores? (Like they do on most puzzle games these days)

Say anything a score of (2000) is a 3 star, score (> 1000 < 2000) is 2 star and a score (< 1000 ) is a one star?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
you can take the max value (2300) divide it by 100 (if you want 0-100 percent for example) to get what 1% of your max value is.
Now multiply it with the amount of frames in your UI or in your case: 0-33% is one star, 34-66 is two stars and 67-100 is three stars. Use rounding to get clear numbers.

Is that helpful?
Cheers!

Bombini - Thank you!
That makes perfect sense - I've just implemented it, I was so close yet so far :) Thank you for clarifying
