How do I get actors to stop falling while they're actually on the ground?

For some reason, when I move my player character left and right, the walking animation gets interrupted by the falling animation. I can fix this by changing the hierarchy so that walking is above falling. But if I do that, when I actually walk off an edge and continue moving forward the walking animation will continue instead of the falling animation. Does anyone know why an actor would technically be falling while it should just be walking on level ground?

One thing to check would be your collision shapes. If the bottom most edges of the shapes have different y values, then when an animation changes an actor can go from standing to "floating" because its new collision box is suddenly a few pixels off the ground.
