Will Stencyl run in the background?

You know how Alexa works, the echo is always waiting for the keyword 'Alexa'.
Is that something Stencyl can do without the app being active?

I need the phone to react when a keyword is spoken even if the app isn't running. The app I'm creating needs to always be listening for specific keywords.
My kids want to create a swear detector that can't be turned off to prevent cheating lol - they set the parameters, I just need to help make it work

PS - Yes I know they want to create this because it means they will have to swear to test it, but I said they could create anything.

youd have to make an extension and use real code

As for word detection with mic... did you have that working? that will also need some extension work

@squeeb, I don't have any of it working yet. Thus far, I'm in the research phase. I found the answers to most of my questions online, but this one I couldn't find.

Thanks for the information.

no worries.  id love to know if you get either of these working.  i have apps that run in the background on android.. not made with stencyl.
Ive made a mic thing for flash.. if i was any good at making blocks and extensions i could get mic stuff into stencyl

2nd part would be hotword detection or something of the sort... offline...

or if you used a rest api  https://cloud.google.com/speech-to-text/docs/basics
maybe the data usage and battery consumption wouldnt be the best with the last one
