Ideal number of actors?

Hello,

I am creating a JRPG with a turn based battle system.
the idea of the game will be to collect a ton of different fighters, and build an inventory of beasts that you can battle with.
I am wondering if I should put all the different characters  (and their animations) into 1 actor that can be spawned depending on circumstances, OR if I should create a different actor for each character that I will have in the game (there will hopefully be around 200-300 different fighters)

(inspired by Summoners war)

thanks,
Queble

So this isn't about numbers of actors on screen, just in total?

I guess it's a personal option but I'm not sure if you'll run into issues by having one actor with hundreds or thousands of animations. Hopefully someone else can input on that.
Current Projects:
The Grand Grimoire Chronicles Episode 1 now on Kongregate!.
I always appreciate useful feedback. Thank you.

yes, just asking if the performance would drop if I created an actor for each fighter (only about 8 would appear on screen at once)
