Cant add actor to scene

If I have an actor the 480 pixels wide, and I try to add it to a scene, I can't stamp it on the scene. If I alter the scene to say 500 x 400 it will let me. Re-sizing the scene then removes the actor. What have I got wrong?

Thanks

Tom

Actors can't be bigger than scenes when placing them (it's fine to do it through a behaviour) I believe this is being fixed in an update but I'll let others chime in on that.

Just an addition to what Miasmos said: it also will not allow actors to be precisely the same size as the screen (or bigger of course). I know some who have tried to make one the precise screen size but it does not work (known from firsthand experience). And, yes, the rumor is that it will be fixed in an update or SW2.

Thank you guys. For now I've got around the problem by slighty increasing the scene width and height.

If the actor is just an image, can always set it to be the background/foreground of the scene ;)

Sometimes I can't even add an actor even if he is very small but only for a short time.

If it helps, I had a similar issue where I wanted to place an anchored actor at the bottom of the screen and the same width with a gradient from black to transparent to contain the scores etc. I made the actor 1pixel less in width so it could be stamped. Then when placed on the scene, I was able to scale the actor 1pixel wider and it still remained in situ. Maybe this is a trick. No good for those wishing to use actors larger, but might work if you want the same width.
