He knows. He's pointing out that it does need to be updated now.

its been 4 days since you said you would make a blog post "tommorrow". Did something come up?

Yes, it's taken a lot longer to import everything in than I originally expected, and I've been pulling *very* long hours to get it all in. We've had to throw out almost all of the existing material and replace with the new one.

It's looking fantastic so far, though. You can preview it here, but bear in mind that a lot of things still have yet to be filled in.

Every major new article that I've had to write takes up about 4-5 hours total between writing, creating the images and demos, editing and finally importing. Multiply that by what you see, and it's been a significant time cost.

Let me be the first to commend you guys on your excellent work. These articles are so insightful and wide-ranging. You should be proud (although you should be proud for everything you've done so far, as it's awesome).

I'm staying patient. I know this is hard work! Hang in there!  :D

...and I looked at the new Stencylpedia. I like it. I think this is an important project. It will help a lot of people that are trying to use the software.

Fortunately, Stencylpedia is different enough than I would be doing for the textbook... so I think I should continue on that project.

Today is a good day!  8)

I was browsing through stencylpedia and read this regarding standalone builds -

'No Mac App Store (yet!)

The main gotcha is that exported Mac Apps are not immediately submittable to the Mac App Store, without further work on your part. This will be fixed up in Stencyl 2.5, when we support native, C++-based standalone games.'

Just wanted to know what is the ' further work required' from our end so that the .app file generated by Stencyl can be submitted to the Mac appstore?

You'll need to sign the app yourself. It's possible that that's all that's required. If Apple gives you trouble, that may require more work.

Glad to hear that our projects will complement each other.

Looks great! Nice work.

I noticed that on majority of the pages all the images and videos are aligned left. On some though, they're centered. Not sure if that was intended or not, but for consistancy's sake, if it wasn't, some examples of that are:

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/44/0/true
-- Step 1's picture is centered, but the rest are aligned left

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/126/0/true
-- Demo video is aligned centered instead of left

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/97/0/true
-- Some images centered instead of aligned left

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/100/0/true
-- Some centered

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/79/0/true
-- Same

Just thought I'd mention it as a FYI :) There are some more, but it looks good as is imo.

Also, one small, non-important issue I ran into:

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/73/0/true
-- Image under "Using Lists to Manage Status Effects" overlaps horizontal bar on large resolution

I'm extremely happy that you guys take documentation seriously, and it's definitely showing.

After browsing the new Stencylpedia for 5 seconds, here's the first thing that popped up to me:
There are no URLs. To link to a page, say in order to recommend one to a friend or report an issue to you guys, I'd have to right-click the item from the menu (example), and that results in a page without navigation.

I'll add a permalink to the top of each article. There's also going to be a traditional web-based interface (this one uses frames) that will be easier to link from.

The tweening demo in Stencylpedia 2.0 gives this error when viewing it:

"Hi there!  It looks like somebody copied this game without my permission.  Just click anywhere, or copy-paste this URL into your browser.

chat.kongregate.com

to play the game at my site.  Thanks, and have fun!"

I noticed that in the end of most segments you offer a sort of challenge relevant to what was just discussed.  I think this is a great idea and would definitely benefit from some sort of badge system.  A badge would be given out for each completed and correct homework assignment/challenge.  Of course the homework would have to be checked to see if it worked, this will motivate people to actually attempt the homework.  Perhaps a forum section dedicated to these homework's would work best, in case people are having trouble with it, or want a peer review.

Stencylpedia 2.0 looks promising so far!  I definitely can't wait to read up on the behaviors segment.

I was going to attempt that myself for a game, but I never thought of using a dummy actor. Interesting! 8)

I love it Jon! It's set up so well. When stencyl 2 "officially" comes out, I'll go through the whole of stencylpedia as soon as possible, as I advise everyone to do.
