Thanks to everyone for the feedback!

@Agent-M - Badges can incentivize, but what's really even more important is that the challenges get talked about and solutions get shared one way or another. I'd love for people to post up solutions, pick a bit at what's good and bad with the solutions, much like the process of peer reviewing code.

Looks great! Nice work.

I noticed that on majority of the pages all the images and videos are aligned left. On some though, they're centered. Not sure if that was intended or not, but for consistancy's sake, if it wasn't, some examples of that are:

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/44/0/true
-- Step 1's picture is centered, but the rest are aligned left

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/126/0/true
-- Demo video is aligned centered instead of left

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/97/0/true
-- Some images centered instead of aligned left

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/100/0/true
-- Some centered

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/79/0/true
-- Same

Just thought I'd mention it as a FYI :) There are some more, but it looks good as is imo.

Also, one small, non-important issue I ran into:

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/73/0/true
-- Image under "Using Lists to Manage Status Effects" overlaps horizontal bar on large resolution

Thanks for pointing this all out. All of them have been fixed (they were all the older, legacy articles except the Effects one).

Got a screenshot of that or the article that did that? I see nothing like that on my end.

I love the new layout, I'd be completely lost without stencylpedia being a total noob myself. Thanks for keeping it up to date and user friendly amidst all the other work you have to do. It really helps.

Hi Jon -- found another thing to point out! It's a small issue really, but thought I'd let you know :)

A PHP Error was encountered

Severity: Notice

Message: Undefined index: HTTP_REFERER

Filename: controllers/help.php

Line Number: 186

http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/73/0/true

I'm guessing that this only occurs when you go to the pages directly instead of navigating to them via the iframes since no referrer exists this way.

I found this error since I had 4 Stencylpedia tabs opened in Google Chrome from a day or two ago. I have yet to close them since they're so valuable ;D

Sounds like an odd character must appended to the URL somewhere for you then.

An apostrophe will cause that error to occur. For example:
http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/73/0/true'

What Web Browser are you using?

All looks good on the latest beta of Google Chrome for me (just FYI).

The view demo in the "What Is Tweening?" section doesn't work.

Yeah, it's been mentioned a few times. We borrowed Abigayl's demo for this with her permission, but the version she provided was site-locked. I'll ask her again about it.

The original Stencylpedia, which I'm informally calling the website-based version, has been updated with the new outline. (It's the old style layout, but with the table of contents)

We still need to hold on to the old layout because the new one isn't so search friendly and Google will have a hard time indexing it. It's mainly intended to be bookmarked or accessed from Stencyl.

The landing page for Stencylpedia will get an overhaul this weekend.

New Help looks more professional but in the same time it's still simple enough for beginners. Great work!

In that case, are you going to end up redoing the URLs for SEO purposes?

(i.e. http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/114/0/true  becomes  http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/camera-guide )

For the pages within the iframe, to make it a little more friendly with search engines, you could use an iframe detection JavaScript to detect if the page is being viewed through an iframe (directly through Stencylpedia 2.0) or not, then have the page reopen with the side menu.

On the framed page, it would be something like...

if (window.top != window.self) {
document.location.href = "http://static.stencyl.com/pedia2/#ListArticleURLorID";
}

Which would tell the page to go to the new URL (Stencypedia 2.0 homepage). The hashtag #ListArticleURLorID could get read on load (more JavaScript) and then after being parsed into the location of the original article, the iframe could open it.

Hope that made sense.

Same thing could be done using "referrer" info too.

Just a thought anyway :) It'd definitely help people if they reached the page without the side menu.

Yep, I've just done that, but I've yet to fix up navigation to reflect that.

I'll look into fixing up navigation a bit more tonight.

Great work!! It looks nice and has very valuable information even while being wip.

PS for the backgrounds part: can they be animated like tiles?
