[Stencyl 2.0] Preview Scene/test game stops working after first time [SOLVED]

Really liking 2.0 so far, but ever since i downloaded it, every time i try to preview my game it works once and then never again. It starts to build it, then stops. The only way to preview it again is to shut down the program completely and start it back up.

Anyone know how to fix this?

[edit: i attached the most recent logs, hope that helps]

Can you folks check this and get back to this post. I'm assuming you use windows. If so, xp, vista or win 7?

Do you see all the items below:

a. Program Files/Stencyl (It's a folder)
b. Document and Settings/<user name/stencylworks (It's a folder). You should see at least 4 folders beneath here: extensions, logs, games, prefs. Under games, do you see your particular game?
c. Document and Settings/<user name/Application Data/Stencyl (It's a folder). There should be one single file underneath here - Stencylworks.prefs
d. If you open stencyl, go to Files->Preferences->Workspace. What's your workspace listed?

I use Windows 7

a. yes
b. yes, although i found it on my SSD which it shouldn't be since i installed it on my hard drive
c. found it, and again it should be on the HDD not the SSD, dunno if that might be the problem?
d. C:\users\matt, should be B:\Users\matt so i changed it to that, didn't fix the problem though

Thanks for getting back to me.

The reason for the problem is you are using Java 7 ( I find out from your logs) instead of 6. Latest 2.0 stencyl should have Java 6 come bundled.

Before any further action, can you go to your Program File area and locate Stencyl folder, you should see a red stencyl C icon and sw.jar in this folder. Do you also see a folder named "runtimes" there and if so, what's below it?

This is the story as as I understand.

We have bundled Java 6 in latest stencyl 2.0. If you see stencyl/runtimes/jre-win folder, that means it already come with Java 6 in stencyl internally.

The reason to bundle java 6 is to alleviate the problem where preview scene/test game stop working after first run (which you are facing).

However, when you send out your previous log, I still see Java 7 being used (you can find this in the config file when you unzip; search for java version).

That means our launcher (the red Stencyl C icon under stencyl program files) is not is forcing the bundled JRE to be used.

Our  team has subsequently generated a new launcher (see attached). Please remove the old red C from stencyl program files and try this new one. Just swap it in and double-click and test the "Preview Game won't work after first time" issue.

If so, really great. Can you do me a favor and generate the zipped log one more time so we can fully confirm the fix?

Here you go.

also, random side question, i'm currently having an issue with the "follow path" behavior that ships with 2.0, my enemies are going to the first node and stopping and i'm stumped as to why that is. if you somehow know anything about that, that'd be great haha. if not i'll just make a new thread in Ask a question.

thanks again for the help

Thanks for the log. Our team will double check this. You are sure you have Java 7 externally. Right?

On follow path, I just tested and it worked for me.

This is what you need to do:

1. create a dummy actor.
2. attach pre-shipped behavior Follow path.
3. You need to enter your coordinates manually by clicking on + sign
Make sure you use Type Text (not Number) and enter 2 numbers separated by comma like

     Text 10,10
     Text 300,100
     Text 500,200

   It should work.

Yeah, i've been using java 7 x64 for a while, needed it for a hi res minecraft texture pack. i deleted java 6 because i figured i wouldn't need it anymore (whoops).

and about the follow path thing, i did all that, wrote out the coordinates and everything, using type text since it would not allow me to do the other, but he still just goes to the first node and stops even though i can see the other nodes i had typed in.

OK. Issue with Java 6 vs. 7 is resolved since stencyl wil be using the bundled java 6.

On follow path, can you put up a really simple game on forge or attach here so that I can take a look?  It should be no brainer.
