enjoy, it's quite 'rough' but works and is finishable. don't knock the cutscenes those are some of my finest ever 2 minutes in ms-paint scribbles right there.

Its released in this condition because thanks to abigayl and sunflowers lagless actors info the whole thing can be redesigned from the ground up to work better in higher resolutions, have more objects on screen and run smoother. Which I'm quite looking forward to starting on.

Zombies Always Win went from initial idea to published game in 6 days.

Thanks alexsilent, quite frankly this sort of feedback is what all of us are aiming for, you made me grin like a very grinny thing.

The 3d effect idea has some flaws, it's impossible to get all the layers to scale and tesselate accurately, so the more complex a scene the more obviously it doesn't all match up. I have had some ideas about this for the sequel however and am plotting to make some quite sophisticated behaviours to manage the effect from the scene rather than per object. you can see where the trick falls over if you can make it past the first boss, good luck :)

Not bad for 6 days. It's very chaotic though, especially the switching from the house part to suddenly being in a field...

It ended up freezing on me twice. Apart from that, I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to a (hopefully bug-free) final version.

That freezing bug is driving me crazy, and seemed to be occuring under two conditions, the first was zombie dogs uneven collision boxes rotating into scenery locking up the game. I just deleted them and replaced them with more zombies in game. The second is when moving between scenes, it happens in different places apparently at random, the only cause I can think of is the number of actors created when entering a new scene (for the not quite but nearly 3d look), the behaviour used to switch scenes is the same behaviour in all instances (and very simple), as are the behaviours managing creation in new scenes. Any ideas?

It is very chaotic Abigayl, I blame the lazy level designer (myself).

For the freezing bug, place some "print" coding in places where you think the freezing problem might be and then play the game with the overlay screen up (for me, it's the ~ key to bring it up). See what is the last print coding you see before the freeze... might help deduce the issue.

Me and my chief playtester, (who is five) have played and played and played and played with no more freezes, so hopefully, it's fixed. During the fixing I learnt about and used for the first time, regions. (doh)

I thought this was pretty cool.  The top-down 3D effect was good.  Not really sure how you did it, so I'm quite interested now haha.  I thought the music was appropriate - matches the game, and is enjoyable even on a loop.  I'm excited to see future updates (hopefully with higher resolution ^^).

I'm trying to figure out how to combine lag free actors, the more refined maths for the 3d effect I've come up with, and a higher resolution. It is proving tricky :) * and arrays *

Very cool, reminds me of some of my favorite games: Into the Eagle's Nest, SmashTV, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and of course Gauntlet. I'm interested in developing something like this soon.
