[[SOLVED]Flash player cannot test a simple scene

Since I've been having troubles with my games not running at all, I created a new game, uninstallled stencyl, Java, reinstalled and downloaded them, and did a test. The test was that I'd make an empty game with an empty scene, and I ran it. This is what came up.

Here are the logs of the empty game.

I'm on 64-bit Windows XP, on Java 6 Update 31.

Looks like the same problem as this: http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,9792.msg60254.html#msg60254
For some people a fresh reinstall helped.

A fresh reinstall of both stencyl and java did not help at all.

Right after you test game, can you zip up and upload your preview folder?  Only other thing it could be is a missing xml file.  I'll be able to find what it exactly is with the preview folder though.

Oh yea, when you did fresh install, did you delete the preferences in HOME/Application Data/Stencyl (in vista, 7) or HOME/Appdata/Roaming/Stencyl?

@Swatllama, I really like to work with you on getting your issue resolved because it will help you and also help stencyl resolve this issue once and for all. If you have a chance, please pm me or reply to this thread. But please do not wipe out anything from your computer.

Oh, woops.Is this it?

@Rob, what do you mean wipe out anything from my computer? I reinstalled everything, but I'm not going to uninstall stencyl if that's what you're saying.

I mean please do not wipe out anything so that we can debug with you.

First, can you open stencyl and check your workspace (File->Preferences->Workspace). Can you list it here.

Also, can you successfully test any sample games?

It is not letting me test any sample games either.

Thanks.

Can you look for these:

1. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\stencylworks (if so, what subfolder below)

2. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Stencylworks.prefs (if so, please post here)

You should see a folder called Application Data under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator (for win xp)

3.  C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Stencyl (if so, what do you see here).

4. I also assume you have Stencyl under C:\Program Files\Stencyl

Please look for these VERY carefully. Since you downloaded 2.0, some of these files/folders should be there.

1. Yeah, I found it in the exact location you said it'd be.
2. I didn't find \stencylworks.prefs, I found \stencylworks\prefs
3. I'm on Windows XP, but I see no Application Data.
4. No, I have it under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\stencylworks.

1. Can you list all the subfolders under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\stencylworks?

2. When you download Stencyl 2.0, do you see this file called Stencyl-2.0.0. If so, once you double click on it, and do run, you should see:

C:\Program Files\Stencyl

You know that, in general, there are always 2 stencyl locations:

1. One for program under C:\Program Files\Stencyl (2.0)
                                   C:\Program Files\Stencylworks (1.4)

2. One for data under      C:\<home folder>\Application Data\Stencyl\stencylworks (for win xp, 2.0)
                                   C:\<home folder>\AppData\Roaming\Stencyl\stencylworks (for win 7 or vista, 2.0)
                                   C:\<home folder>\stencylworks (1.4)

1. Subfolders: extensions, games, logs, prefs, preview.
2. Yes, I do see Stencyl-2.0.0. C:\Program Files (x86)\Stencyl is the destination folder, but when I looked there, I did not see it.

1. I do not see it either under Program Files or Program Files (x86).
2. I don't even see any application data folder anywhere. Are you sure this exists in the 64-bit edition of Windows XP?
