Ask a Question / Re: Health HUD
« on: December 02, 2011, 12:42:31 am »
Alright, thanks.
I got it to work.

Another question though:
For another game.
I made an actor for the health that displays different animations (ex. smiling face for full health, dead face for low health etc). Is it possible to get that actor to access the heath attribute for another actor? Because I didn't use a game attribute for it, and it's gone too far for me to switch either.

I know it's kind of a stupid question,
but I just can't figure it out.
I know how to get the game to draw a rectangle somewhere on top of the player, but just dunno how to fix that to the screen.
So, anyone?

Then how do you determine if the player is throwing the gernade or not?
I mean, it's both a "key released" situation...

Hmm, already got that in mind, I'm only thinking of how to make it increase by time, and how to set the force boundries. It'll probably take a bunch of "if" blocks...

Well, I'd like to make the actor throw something.
I have the projectile that explodes and causes damage on impact, and also can make the actor throw it at a fix force and the direction according to which the actor is facing.

But I'd need an idea on how to adjust the force, probably according to how long to hold the key down, and the projectile is fire when you let go. Anyone know how to code that?

Well, nice...kind of.
Anim8tor. Heard of, seems like a cool freeware. Might try out later.

Blender FTW for me. 8)

Ask a Question / Tiles, tiles, tiles. Argh.
« on: September 13, 2011, 07:04:44 am »
Seems to be getting a lot of problems about this recently.

So, this time i'ts about behaviors,a few questions:

You know those ground spikes that cause damage if you step on them? I used to use a actor for that, but just wondering, can I achieve that effect if I use a tile?

Also, water blocks that slow the player down and cause damage when standing under it for a period of time?

And finally, vertical ladders that you can climb and stand on top?

Ask a Question / Re: Smaller tiles?
« on: September 13, 2011, 02:38:27 am »
I think you didn't get the problem.
I imported tiles with 8*8 sprites, and it shows a magnified 32*32 pixels in game, while the player is still the original 8*8.

Whatever, new topic.
old question solved, new question here:,

Ask a Question / Smaller tiles?
« on: September 12, 2011, 06:43:41 am »
No, no, not tile size.

I mean, the tiles are a fixed size on-screen, no matter what dimensions you use at the import, right?
And is there any way to change that size?

Well no, it's just that I wanted the player to appear bigger, but the tiles got even bigger than that and screwed up.

It makes complete sense, but sadly in a way that doesn't work.

Seems to work so far, one more problem.
When it's zoomed in, the tiles are like, huge.

I made a 8*8 tileset and tried to fix the problem, only got worse.
The tiles now don't show correctly, but the collision groups are there.
Exactly what happens when you use two tilesets of different dimensions in one game, but I made sure there's only one here.

Now what?
Is there a way to make a tile, like, smaller?

Well it handles the graphics fine, but using it kinda means you enable every weapon at the start of the game. ::)

Awesome ghost AI and map generator.
Love maze game.
Graphics...well not too bad.
Music is also okay.
Also maybe pace up the game a little? It's kinda boring to wait for the player to walk.
