Ask a Question / Health GUI
« on: October 22, 2011, 08:22:05 pm »
I know it's kind of a stupid question,
but I just can't figure it out.
I know how to get the game to draw a rectangle somewhere on top of the player, but just dunno how to fix that to the screen.
So, anyone?

Ask a Question / Gernade behavior
« on: October 02, 2011, 05:43:50 am »
Well, I'd like to make the actor throw something.
I have the projectile that explodes and causes damage on impact, and also can make the actor throw it at a fix force and the direction according to which the actor is facing.

But I'd need an idea on how to adjust the force, probably according to how long to hold the key down, and the projectile is fire when you let go. Anyone know how to code that?

Ask a Question / Tiles, tiles, tiles. Argh.
« on: September 13, 2011, 07:04:44 am »
Seems to be getting a lot of problems about this recently.

So, this time i'ts about behaviors,a few questions:

You know those ground spikes that cause damage if you step on them? I used to use a actor for that, but just wondering, can I achieve that effect if I use a tile?

Also, water blocks that slow the player down and cause damage when standing under it for a period of time?

And finally, vertical ladders that you can climb and stand on top?

Ask a Question / Smaller tiles?
« on: September 12, 2011, 06:43:41 am »
No, no, not tile size.

I mean, the tiles are a fixed size on-screen, no matter what dimensions you use at the import, right?
And is there any way to change that size?

Ask a Question / Zoom in?
« on: September 12, 2011, 02:51:38 am »
I'm working on a game with very low-def sprites (8 by 8 ). It looks okay, cause the game is mostly of blocks. Problem is, the player seems a little small. Is there anyway to let the screen show the sprites at a larger scale? I just can't scale up the dozens of sprites I've already got.

Ask a Question / Behavior help: Get powerup.
« on: September 11, 2011, 06:29:26 pm »
Well, I know how to do the health and invincible for stage powerups, but that's about it.
I'm asking about other stuff, like things you collide with to enable actions, ex. double jump, get new weapon or such.

Ask a Question / How to backup game
« on: August 29, 2011, 06:20:22 am »
No, not the "copy game" thing.
I need to backup all the files into a hard drive, cause my computer is lately frequently crashing. I'm gonna reformat my memory disk and start over, so I'll have to manually insert the application data back into my new comp. exactly?

Ask a Question / Explosion animation
« on: August 28, 2011, 06:39:24 am »
Any artists know how to do this?
I need a die animation for one of my actors, but my pixelart skills can't achieve that effect.

By the way, has to be in single color...alpha channel is fine but I'd prefer not to use it (conflicts with the style of the rest of the game).

So...anyone? Please help, it's best if you can teach me how to do so as well. Thanks.

Ask a Question / Face direction of player
« on: August 26, 2011, 06:38:06 am »
No, not in 2D.
I want the actor to switch animations according to the player's position-either on its left or its right.

Game Art / Element cube sprites-anyone want these?
« on: August 25, 2011, 07:10:08 am »
Dunno. Did a few sprites out of boredom, I figured that someone might be willing to use them in their games.

Six cubes, each representing one natural element-Water, Fire, Stone, Wood and Ice-and a Black ancient magical sort of feeling. They're 16*16 just to fit with my pixelart style, Feel free to resize or edit. I can also do that for you on request.

Ask a Question / Light and dust effects in black and white.
« on: August 25, 2011, 03:18:45 am »
So I need effects for a little game I'm working on, but no idea how to do it.

The idea is some "transportation point" that will allow the actor to move to the next scene, and I want it to have a futuristic and dynamic look, maybe even to glow.

But because the style of the game, it'll look weird if I used an alpha channel, and the pixelart is out of my abilty anyway.

So, anyone know how to achieve that effect?

Link to the game, just in case you want to ask.

Demo level one. First game I created, so don't expect much and criticism is welcome ;).

Ask a Question / If in range of actor.
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:04:00 am »
Yeah. Anyone know how to do it? I'm trying to make a sidescrolling game, and I want actors to attack only when in range of the player.

Ask a Question / Region use
« on: August 23, 2011, 06:01:50 pm »
I am trying to make a sign that will show text when a player comes into a specific area.

I know you can set a scene behavior "if (actor attribute) is in (region attribute)..." and so on.
But then I need a boolean to determine if the region is drawing, and a draw command to let it draw the text at the selected position.

But as I need more than one sign, this tactic seems incredibly stupid and not efficient.

Anyone know another way how?
