How do we go about making the screen only move forward when the player moves forward, and the screen stays there? (One way scroll like SMB)

I've tried but no luck.

Completed / [Design Mode Block Palette] Palette to Show by Default

By default currently, the Attributes panel shows first when opening a behavior to edit or creating a new one before having to switch to the Palette.

Shouldn't the Palette show by default? This might throw some new users off when there is no blocks to start with. Maybe just something minor but it's a thought.

I was just wondering because when you select Reset Layout the palette tab is selected.

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / Pressing Key Nulls out

Stencyl 2.2

I have a scene event behavior at the title and yesterday it was working fine. If you press the Start Key, which is key Enter, I get this error message, and the event doesn't change scenes as it did when it was working.

I don't remember changing anything before it stopped working. This is what happens now when I press start to change scenes. I even tried removing the key from controls, then creating a new one and set it.

Ask a Question / Sensor collision animation not colliding

Players Can collide with Power Ups but the behavior doesn't activate unless I uncheck Sensor for that animation. I also have Cannot Move checked otherwise the colliding power up will move and it's not supposed to. Thought maybe that was it, but same.

This actor type should only become visible if it's hit from below so that it can be fell through from above, but not from the bottom. Similar to the one way platform thing now that I think about it..

Anyone have a problem with the Create Actor Type block creating two actor types rather than just one?

My behavior works fine but it is creating two of them not just one.

Nevermind. Closed the game then reopened it and there is only one now.

Ask a Question / Do After n seconds block prevents screen fadeout

This behavior doesn't switch to stage 1 as it should after the wait time using it as it is in the picture here.

However, if I remove the "Do after Wait to Fade seconds" block and place the "Fade out for screen fade time" block at the bottom by itself the game then fades out and into stage one like it should.

What happens? I don't see any errors.

Resolved Questions / [Solved] Player Actor Skipping across the tiles

I'm working off of the regular 2.x version of Stencyl and using the Platformer Movement behaviors on Forge. The problem is, when I walk or try to run, the player moves, then slows down while walking on the tiles giving a stop go motion while holding to the right or left to walk.

Anyone having this issue and what could be up?

There is no negative output in the console pressing ~ to view it.

I'm not sure if it's the movement behaviors which were not modified aside from adding in a few play/stop sound blocks, or a tileset issue.

I was taking the explode on Death Behavior and was wondering what would I change to make the particles explode out into a circular motion every time rather than randomly spitting out the particles?

Ask a Question / Snap Actor to center of Door?

I noticed in Dangerous Dungeons at the door when you exit, the hero gets sucked in to the grid.

How can I get an Actor to snap to the center of a door when I am in the door region, and press up?

It's working fine but it looks weird cause sometimes the player actor enters beside the door instead of in the center. I could have just made the door much bigger so it wouldn't matter but that really isn't the right way.

Any help?

Here is a snapshot of the behavior (event) for the door.
 - It kills the regular player actor, switches animation to the victory dance animation of the new actor, opens the door, switches again to the player going in, and after a second or so fades out the created actor as if he's disappearing into the darkness, then the door shuts.

Somewhere in there the Spawned Actor should snap to the center of the door.

Game Ideas / Super Noni Returns!

It's been a while since we have seen hide or hair of the missing Noni character. I have been working with the enhanced packs example game To try and make another adventure for Noni. Some may be familiar with the game which was put together by a group of us Stencylers.

There is only one level ATM but it is almost fixed up so there can be added levels, more enemies and what not.

Controls
Z = JUMP
X = Run
Down = Duck
Up = Enter Door

Includeds some platforms, slopes, health, lives and score and also a checkpoint system. The demo level is fairly long.

Collect as many points by collecting candy drops (or whatever they appear to be.. heh) as you can.

Things I want to add
 - Secret doors and invisible blocks to appear as you collect enough of a certain type candy.
 - Boss enemies
 - Some power ups like triple jump, invincibility and maybe a special race track as I did with Goldman's Adventure ...

The score needs to be fixed still so that only after getting to a check point you keep your score, or finish a level.

I need to take a break now. Anyone wish to help out or anything let me know, and suggest some things.

Forge works. Any ideas? I published as a WIP. Didn't try as regular since it's still only a WIP.
