Chit-Chat / Low Rez Jam 2014 (ends on May 31st)
« on: May 04, 2014, 07:29:20 am »
WHAT:
http://jams.gamejolt.io/lowrezjam2014

PLAY THE (STENCYL-MADE) GAMES :
http://www.stencyl.com/jams/lowres/

WHEN :

ENTRY DEADLINE IS MAY 19th 12AM PST
VOTING ENDS MAY 31st 12AM PST

GENRE : ANY

THEME : ANY

RESTRICTIONS : Create a game with a maximum screen resolution of 32x32 pixels.

DETAILS : There are no limiations on the amount of colors, sprites, or anything else. The idea of this is not to create a retro pixel art game, but rather to challenge your skills in making an enjoyable gaming experience using a minimal amount of detail. You are obviously allowed and encouraged to upscale the game for the sake of playability by allowing the player to stretch the game to full screen / a larger window, but please make every attempt to maintain the hard edges of the pixels in the process. Also, please do not fake smaller resolution by using large blocky sprites in a higher resolution.

---

Any Stencyl people thinking about joining the Low Rez Jam?
I thought it would be nice to see what other people here can do with a 32x32 resolution,  seeing that Stencyl is such a great fit for low resolution games.

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Lakeview Cabin (R-rated horror game)
« on: October 22, 2013, 01:19:14 am »
I just released my new horror game Lakeview Cabin: http://gamejolt.com/games/action/lakeview-cabin/18469/
I did not want to post it on the other Announce your game board because of the younger audience. Hopefully this Subscribers Only section eliminates a bit of that concern. :)

It seems that people are enjoying it. Hopefully I can develop the core concept into a more full-fledged experience.

Here's some pieces about it on IndieStatik and IndieGames, hopefully you play the game before reading them:

Stencyl Jam 12 / Consequences (LD48)
« on: April 28, 2013, 03:11:59 pm »
Just finished a new game called consequences. It's an artsy fartsy shmup with a bit of a twist ending. I made it over the weekend for Ludum Dare with the theme Minimalism. So I decided to add it as an entry for the Stencyl Jam. Tell me what you think!

Full version here http://tinyurl.com/c668rkw

Detroit in the distant future... The year 2002.
The city is infested with illegal substance factories, run by vicious gangs.
The only hope is the recent formation of a new elite unit, Quantum Corps.
You are a member of that unit. Bend time and gravity to be the best of the best.

Please report any bugs you find. And suggestions are always welcome! :)
(There might be some problems with the scoring system, inform me if you encounter anything.)

Ask a Question / Rotate towards mouse
« on: June 26, 2012, 01:10:43 am »
I'm trying to make a car that you can drive with your mouse. I've gotten it almost to work but now I'm stuck after two days of trying and scanning the forums for solution.
Here's the example: http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/13366

You can see the problem is that it doesn't work well when you move the mouse to the left side of the "car". What am I missing? I've attached the behaviour I'm using.

Chit-Chat / Favorite weapon in a video game?
« on: March 12, 2012, 05:17:29 am »
What is your favorite weapon in any video game? It can be a melee, realistic, or a scifi weapon. I'm working on a small (and very secret, so hush hush) side project that should be finished in less than a month, and I need some suggestions on guns and upgrades. So if you have some fond childhood memories about a gun or upgrade that you just had to have in some game then here's your change to share it!

PS: My main project is still Barbarium, so dont worry! (As if anyone was worried...)

Ask a Question / How to make collectibles stay collected?
« on: January 17, 2012, 02:51:16 am »
I'm working on some collectibles (coin types, just to make it more appealing to take a more dangerous route) for my game Barbarium. The problem is that you can backtravel between scenes and that makes the coins reappear.

So the question goes: Is there a way to make the coins stay collected, even if you come back later to the same scene? And is there a way to make the save games know about this, so that you can quit the game and come back to it later?

FULL VERSION IS OUT!

TRAILER:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0h9ToxwFv8

Things added:
-All levels and bosses
-Ending that changes according to the amount of coins and treasures you get. Deaths also affect the ending.
-Cheat codes that unlock after completing the game
-Changed the tileset in the first area
-Enemies now fly from the power of your sword. Drunken hits make them fly farther.
-All levels have been revamped a bit. Just a BIT!

I know it's probably filled with bugs but I cant find them all by myself. So please report them if you encounter some! Let's just get this over with and go kick some ass!
