Journals / Solitude Adventures [Pre-Alpha]
« on: February 21, 2015, 04:11:57 am »

Solitude Adventures is a puzzle game, embracing simple graphics with core puzzle mechanics. It aims to be fun and not overly complex, while still providing a good challenge. Of course it includes all the usual puzzle stuff like platforms and lasers. But the most important aspect of the game, is that it includes freaking meteors! That's right, meteors! On top of that there's some sweet animations going on here and there. Solitude Adventures will be available on the Apple App Store, Google Play and Amazon Store. More info TBA.

Extension Ideas / Camera Extension [Work in Progress]
« on: December 04, 2014, 09:32:27 am »
Work in progress!

For mobile device's camera and to receive the byte data

Have been implemented:
-Trigger the built-in camera in iOS and Android

Features to implement:
- Return the captured photo to Haxe as JPEG byte data
- Simulate a camera event from provided BitmapData for non-mobile platforms

The extension is still very buggy, so until its stable I won't upload it here (however can over request)

An idea of how it will work:

Currently I don't have time, so the project is set on pause

Ask a Question / Swing rope box2d
« on: September 08, 2014, 11:51:32 am »
How would I go about making a swing rope that can be shot from an actor then attached to a tile like a joint?

I would like to get something in this style:

Suggestion Archives / Add setting for enabling status bar (iOS)
« on: August 04, 2014, 07:12:53 am »
Some games/apps/utilities would benefit from having the status bar visible  and therefore it would be good to have a toggle option in the settings menu in stencyl.

What is it?
This is extension lets you check the network connection status, iOS Version and more.

Key Features
- iOS-platform extension
-Check if network connection is available
-Get Model, iOS Version, OS Name and Device Name

How to install
If you go under Settings > Extensions, in the top-right corner there is a "Install Extension" button. Click it and choose

It only works on iOS!

          May 17th 2014 [1.0] Fixed missing hx.
          May 11th 2014: [1.0] Initial release

An example of use:

To open your app rating page on iOS 7 or above:
Code: [Select]
To open your app rating page below iOS 7:
Code: [Select]
If there's no network connection and you use ads in your game then they won't appear but now you can display fx. a banner for your other games if there's no connection with the new network conncetion available block (it returns as a boolean!).

Not working after update

Completed / Add a dropdown block to check iOS and API versions
« on: May 07, 2014, 12:58:45 pm »
Really something we need!
Add a dropdown block to check iOS  and API versions

So we can check what version the users are using fx for ratings:

For ios 7 below one would use:
Code: [Select] ios 7 one would use:
Code: [Select]
But this is just an example of what that could be done with it. There're many more possibilities

To the built in block (see attachment) why not add the possibility to make two or more buttons. This is a pretty standard thing. Fx if you have a reset button in your game you show an alert with two buttons as a built in safe. Or if you prompt a user with a rate request box they would have the option to select no/maybe later or yes. Or even if you have an in-game shop you can prompt the user when trying to buy an item "are you sure you want to buy this".

For the iOS side this would be something like:
Code: [Select]
UIAlertView *alertView = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Rate me please!"
                                              otherButtonTitles:@"Yes", nil];

    [alertView show];
    [alertView release];

But for this to work well we woud also need a method to catch what's pressed.
This would probably be something like:
Code: [Select]
- (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex
          if(buttonIndex == 0)//No button pressed

          else if(buttonIndex == 1)//Yes button pressed.

I would like to see this added in the furture for both Android and iOS.

Some simple yet very useful schemes

How to use them:

Code: [Select]
Show a map of fx Cupertino, California in the Maps app:
Code: [Select]

Code: [Select]

Ask a Question / Working On A Way To Display Weather Info
« on: February 20, 2014, 05:45:00 am »
I'm developing a method to display weather information using openweather APi and just hint small a problem.....
How would you split this into readable materials using stencyl blocks?

Here's an example of what it could return:
Code: [Select]
{"coord":{"lon":9.85,"lat":55.86},"sys":{"message":0.0981,"country":"DK","sunrise":1392877944,"sunset":1392914167},"weather":[{"id":500,"main":"Rain","description":"light rain","icon":"10d"}],"base":"cmc stations","main":{"temp":280.429,"temp_min":280.429,"temp_max":280.429,"pressure":1011.41,"sea_level":1018.34,"grnd_level":1011.41,"humidity":98},"wind":{"speed":5.21,"deg":190},"rain":{"3h":0.25},"clouds":{"all":76},"dt":1392899319,"id":2619771,"name":"Horsens","cod":200}
I know that one could use the block:
But this won't work properly since the index number (text length) varies. How would you proceed?

Chit-Chat / Tools For Tracking And Optimization [iOS]
« on: February 09, 2014, 11:34:54 am »
Have you just released an app? ...How do you track and optimize it? Well here's a list over the tools I use (please feel free to add what you use)

Keywords are very important for your downloads (trafic) it makes your app more visible. Don't forget to check what's hot to search for on the App Store.
For keyword optimization

(See attachment 1)

For tracking revenue from paid/ads  and reviews apple just don't make this easy. For these things especially reviews, daily ranks  and ratings I use this site.
For Ratings, Daily Ranks And Reviews

(See attachment 2)

Sometimes it's nice to have a overview of how you're doing money wise and with downloads. This site below gives you a total of all your downloads from all of your apps and all of your revenue (from paid and ads).

Game Ideas / iKon for iOS [In Beta]
« on: February 05, 2014, 08:40:33 am »
We're making a new quiz-type game for iOS. We're still behind with some of the game art including the icon, but we thought would get some feedback for the screenshots we've made for the app store. Since the screenshots are very important for trafic we want them to be perfect :)
Preview see attachments and tell us what you think.
