Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Rocket Boat - Ludum Dare 23
« on: April 24, 2012, 04:34:25 pm »

Just a quick game I made for ludum dare last weekend.
Or just

You have a boat, and it has a rocket booster on the bottom! What better thing to do than cause senseless destruction to random property and military vehicles?

Your (self set?) mission is to destroy all cities on each of the 5 planets as fast as you can because why the hell not?

-- Instructions --

Right to move clockwise, Left to move anti-clockwise. Use the mouse to fire missiles. If you get stuck failing a jump, press enter to suicide.

I would have used the rocket boat mechanic to be used ingame, but I ran out of time! It's still cool seeing it fly off of the planet though.

Interested in hearing your opinions. :)

In the latest build you can put a string attribute into both a number addition and text addition, so it's really hard to tell which one is which. Maybe the string version should have quotes around the text boxes?

Archives / [Tile API] Is tile in (x,y,layer) solid?

Reports if the tile in the specific position has a collision shape. Could be useful for particles that collide with tiles.

Archives / Middle Mouse + Drag to scroll in scene designer/behaviour editor
« on: February 13, 2012, 02:52:03 pm »
I do this in webpages a lot to scroll to the side (and because my mouse wheel is broken).
Is less important in the behavior editor, because there's less need to scroll sideways.

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / [iOS] Repeating Backgrounds don't repeat. [UNIMP]
« on: December 29, 2011, 10:47:51 am »
There's also a random chance that it renders incorrectly (draws the whole atlas).

EDIT: I mean that they don't move, they repeat just fine but with some weird 1px space horizontally.

I have 3 devices: iPhone 4, 3GS and an iPad 2. Each time I want to test on a different device, I have to switch the Mac Address. This gets pretty tedious if the app in question is universal, so I was wondering if this could be added to make things simpler.

To prevent people adding every mac address possible you could limit to 5 or 10.

Old Questions (from 1.x/2.x) / Rotate everything but Labels?
« on: December 27, 2011, 08:12:48 am »
Is there any way to do this with code? I recall that for landscape mode Jon put everything in a "sprite" and rotated that, but I'm looking for a way to rotate everything sans a few labels.

A flash method would be great too.

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Splasers Strife - Ludum Dare 22 entry
« on: December 19, 2011, 12:33:36 am »

Made in 48 Hours. The thene was "alone", so the idea was to be alone, not to stop being alone. Well, it is, to a point. It's made to be difficult, so be persistent. :)

Please tell me if you're experiencing any odd slowdowns as the game goes on (which resolve in the next scene). I think there's a performance bug with either lightweight actors or timed events. (or both!)

Also, please give your feedback. :)

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / Build spontaneously fails.
« on: December 11, 2011, 07:40:52 am »
This happens randomly to pretty much any behaviour. Build again and it doesn't.

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / I rerendered some fonts, positioning is off
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:58:45 am »
The letters seem to be truncating each other. Only happening to fonts with strokes (maybe shadows too).

It used to, doesn't now. I can work around this so don't worry.

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / [mac] Windows always created on space 1
« on: November 19, 2011, 11:13:16 am »
I have StencylWorks open in space 2, but whenever something loads the "loading" popup appears on space 1, so I'm dragged back to space 1. It should appear over SW, in space 2.

Completed / Flash games using retina graphics. [done in 3.0]

For windows users who can't test retina or large size desktop/mobile crossovers.

Archives / Bilinear Scaling of game when in unusual resolutions
« on: November 10, 2011, 11:42:36 am »
Currently all games scale using nearest neighbour (when the embed size is different from the game's size), but in full screen mode all games scale using bilinear filtering. The nearest neighbour scaling looks really bad when there is an unusual scale factor like 0.8.

This is the behaviour on flash.
