It's a question that happened before here, but I did not find any answer about how to code it:

-I have a walk animation, and when I switch to "jump" animation, it sticks on the jump animation and never goes back to the walk animation.

How can this be fixed, please? Thanks in advance

Resolved Questions / Some troubles with number lists (SOLVED)
« on: January 26, 2012, 04:00:33 pm »
Hello there!

I am still having some troubles with list type game attributes

I have a list with several items(indexes) and set them to default number values, but when I set a variable to a given index of this list, it returns a Not a Number (NaN). It happens even if I wrap the "get item X from list Y" in a "as number" block.

Am I understanding this list thing all wrong?

Thanks in advance

Hello there,

Given I have two different actors (like turtle and flying turtle enemies) who use the exact same spritesheet, when I create both actors and set their animations to this spritesheet, is it being duplicated?

like, does stencylworks detects the use of the same spritesheet for the two actors or does it duplicate the file?

I was planning having many actors with totally different behaviors who use exactly the same animation spritesheet.

Archives / Some kind of version control
« on: January 21, 2012, 05:29:18 pm »
Hello there,

As games will tend to get more advanced with Stencyl's evolution, I think that it would be nice (if not life-saving) to have some kind of version control. Something like Tortoise SVN but simpler.

Maybe just a easier way to make backups of stable versions of the game. Something like a "save as stable version"  and a "Revert to version X" on the file Menu.

(Ok, right now you can actually do it just "saving game as" and save with another name, I'm just trying to figure a more advanced and friendly way to do it)

Hello there,

I am currently getting troubled by the values of a Game attribute of the "List" type. Their default values are all numbers and set to 15.

My code do not change this Game atributte but then, when the game saves and loads again, the values are not set to 15. A print of the values returns "[object Object]"

Do anyone knows why?

Thanks in advance

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / Help identifying bug

Hello there, could someone please help me to identify the cause of this bug?

The game is freezing and some time later it gives me this on flashplayer:

It happens very rarely and the causes are hard to get, maybe its one my timed events, maybe its a collision behavior. I'll attach the logs, I can get screenshots though the error is hard to reproduce.

Thanks in advance.

Resolved Questions / Is there an "actor type as text"? (ANSWERED)
« on: January 12, 2012, 02:46:19 am »
Hello there,

I am not that good at coding and I would like in a scene to create a specific actor type wich name is stored in a text variable.

I can't drag text or any "variable as text" inside the "create (actor type) at  X , Y"  block.

So, is there any way to do it?

Hello there,

I have a project of mine going on and I would like to use Stencylforge to share my resources with a new partner, but not making the whole thing public, is it possible?

If it is not, what would be the best way to share a game with a partner?

Thanks in advance

Resolved Questions / How do I erase saved data? ANSWERED
« on: January 08, 2012, 12:20:42 pm »
This might be quite a noobish question but...

Where does flash saves the files relative to saved games? So I can delete them. :P

Or is there some way in the code to force the clearing of loaded game files?

Hello there,

Is it possible to create "List" type attributes that use something other than number for its keys?
More like an array, the key being a text, and the value a number or text as usual

 Something like:

List X:
bananas - 2
apples - 17
grapes - 0

(I could do it on code block but im not sure if then I caould use the array in other design mode blocks)

Archives / Categories or keywords on stencylforge
« on: December 30, 2011, 05:30:44 am »
Hello there,

I think it would be useful if Forge had either categories or keywords to better organize the resources.

I know that it has already the sorting / filtering modes (Most Useful, Most Downloads, Newest, Highest Rated) and you can do a text search for words in the description and I also know that forge organizes different types of resources (actors, logic, etc) so:

-Encouraging the adding of a keywords when uploading/sharing ( the words might be from a fixed list made by the Stencyl team) would allow a quicker indexing and browsing through the resources. Like "Platform" "RPG" "shooter" "multiplayer" "AI" and so.

Many people already does this adding words to description, it would just be a matter of making it official

Best regards

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / Possible collision bug
« on: December 30, 2011, 05:07:22 am »
Hello there, I have run into a problem that might be a bug, so I would be greatly thankful if someone could help with this.

I am building a game with a flying character and enemies that chase him and then shoot him. All works fine except that the game completely freezes and flash eventually spits errors when:

-The collision bounding boxes of two actors overlap, then a third actor (in this case a bullet) collides with this "overlapping areas". A screenshot follows, showing where the missile (the little axe) collides with the overlapping areas on collision boxes.

As far as I know, the collision bounding boxes should not even ever overlap, right? I made some more extensive testing along the last few days and without the "third actor collision" (turning off  the shoot bullets behavior) there is no bug.

I have attached both the screenshot and logs and here goes the errors that flash spits out when it eventually crashes:
