I'm in desperate need of a bit of code, which can filter CPMstar ads per domain, in Stencyl 2.4

I didn't realize CPMstar/stencyl didn't have this feature built in, and now i might lose a chunk of a game sponsorship which has taken a long time to get!

Anyone who could help me on this, it would be much appreciated. thankyou :)

Hey guys, if you know my work i made Skullface and Making Monkeys. Anyway, just wanted to show you what i've been doing i know some people on this forum were interested, sorry for a kinda salesy post on this forum, i think some people would be interested though. Here's what i've been working on:

I see a block where i can post DATA to a webpage. Can i grab text from a page?

I basically want people to be able to save their levels via string to a blank html page online.
Then i want stencyl to grab that text and put it in an attribute or something.

I have no idea what i'm doing here, so maybe this is a longshot but it would be incredibly cool.

- arrow keys move
- click to place blocks
- hold spacebar + click to delete blocks


Did this tonight and basically used the tileAPI demonstrated in "demo- miner" on stencylForge, then did my own crappy collision system based around checking 4 co-ordinates around the player and applying forces if they are hitting a tile.

(you can't use tile collisions with the tileAPI because they lag the game to shit)


I'm really passionate about making a community game where you can build massive worlds and share them, but the only way i can think is copy/pasting strings of text which store/build the levels.. and i don't know if stencyl can copy/paste text! I have a game where you can draw levels using the tileAPI and it saves them in a string of text.

Anyone know a way to allow users to copy text, and also paste it into an input box?

That's the only way i can think to allow users to make and share levels.

(NOTE: stencyl 2.2)

So i want to make an open world game where the AI feels like it is always alive, and the world is persistent and permanent. The way i thought to do this was to have lists for items/corpses/any effect you have on the world.. then spawn those things in the right places upon scene load (so it stays between saves)

Then for AI that seems to "keep living even when you're not around", i keep lists to track their position/health..etc, then update it with math every few seconds, as if they are roaming, fighting, looting.. when the player is near to their position it spawns the AI into the game with the right items/health..etc

Anyone got tips n techniques for this kind of thing? Would love to hear your ideas :D

I remember a while back that adding tiles in realtime using the tileAPI would result in poor collision due to how Stencyl made the tile collisions.

Is this still true in 2.4, or can i draw a level using the tileAPI and collisions will all work fine?

Ask a Question / Draw Terrain in RealTime

I want to include a level editor in my new game (using actors and terrain), i know how to get actors, store them in a list and spawn them. Not so sure about terrain..

I'm thinking i can use the draw tools to have players draw polygons. Then i could grab those points and make terrain from those shapes when the game starts up.

Can anyone help with grabbing points and making terrain sections with them in real time.

Ask a Question / camera follow issue

My game has:

- a physics character that you move with the arrow keys, via "push gently".
- some terrain drawn in there

If i attempt to add any kind of camera follow to anything in the scene, the collisions are offset, and the camera doesn't move/object the camera is added to doesn't move.

Whats happening here?

Be nice if you could un-check a box, and then that actor won't appear under "actors" in the level editor. 90% of my actors don't need to be hand placed.

Whats up guys, i'm making a top down shooter set in a castle. Basically blastin skeletons and stuff, grabbin loot and leveling up.

Quite basic but lots of fun!

Ask a Question / saving / loading... reset my lists!

My game has two list attributes with about 45 values each. "players best times", and "A+ times"..
It loads at the start of the game, and saves at the end of each level.

Well, it saved, but seems to have blanked every A+ time and player time and so these display as NA/NA or in the debug: "object object"... what can i do about this?

(i'm using 1.4)
