Ask a Question / Mouse click not working

I set up a simple "click to go to url" actor button. But when I click the button, nothing happens.
It seems as if my mouse click isnt working?

Is it because my game is flash - IOS, do I need to make it think its a touch event?

Ask a Question / Exporting SWF with sound problem

So I tried a text export of the game today.
I get the unable to export error when trying to export with sound. I duplicated my game, took out the sound and it exported fine.

I don't understand because all my sound is mp3?

Ask a Question / Change actor - behaviour

Hey Guys,
Does any coding genius know what blocks to use to change between actors.
Our game has 4 main characters. They all have different skills, eg some can jump higher.
We want a feature where you can hit a button/key and then it changes to the next actor/character.

This sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to do. But with limited coding knowledge its a bit out of my league at the moment.

Can anyone help out?

So this is what I've got for my jump behavior. It switches to jump right fine.
I've tried a few things but can't seem to get the jump left animation to work.



What blocks would I add to get this to work?

Ask a Question / Simple Melee attack

Does anyone know how to make a simple melee attack for a side scroller?
Or an easy way to edit the gun firing in gun and run examples to not use weapons and just switch the animation.

Basically all I need is:
When you click the attack button, the actors animation switches to "attack animation right/left".
And then after the animation has played, it goes back to the idle animation etc. When attacking it deals damage to the enemy in front if they are close enough.

Very simple, but I can't seem to find a behavior in stencylforge that works like this.

Can anyone help out? Would be very appreciated :)

Hi,
When my character jumps, the animation is idle, or if I'm holding left or right, It is the walk animation.

I'm using the run and gun example.

I've tried editing the "jump behaviour" and set the if facing right, switch to animation jump right.
This makes it switch to the jump animation but not play it? It only shows the first frame.

Is there any easier way to do this?

Hi,
I have 4225 tiles in my tile set. When I import the tiles they are set as default as "square" collision.
I want all my tiles to be "no collision" and then pick the few that I would like collisions on.

Is there a way to set them all as no collision?

I've tried dragging a box over all of my tiles and then selecting no collisions but it doesn't seem to work.

Old Questions (from 1.x/2.x) / Grass tiles moving position

Hi,
When placing grass into my scene it looks fine, but preview of the game it is not at the bottom of the scene, it is about half way up the scene and a bit to the right. When I save the scene, exit it and re open it, it is in the wrong position (where it is when you preview). Other tiles in the tile sheet are working fine.

The only way I can get it show up at the bottom of the scene, is if I also place it randomly around in the scene, (in the sky etc). and then it will also show where it is meant to be. (but I really don't want grass in my sky, lol)

My scene is set as 16px per tile, and same for both when I import the image into the tile set and click change tile size.

The image for the tile set is 2048 x 2048, (the max size you can make a tile set).

It really makes no sense to me.

Hi,
So most of my problems I have encountered so far have been fixed. But now when I'm importing a tileset, (2048x2048), it imports fine. But when I choose the transparent background colour, it says importing but stays doing that forever and never actually imports the tileset. I have tried changing the background colour from white to pink etc but didn't help. I am using Stencyl 2.

How many atlases are ok for a iphone game?

I read this on stencylpedia:
"For the most part, a game can accommodate 4 to 5 full-size atlases at a time before you’ll see a memory warning."

And each atlas can only be 2048px x 2048px apparently.

5 atlases will only hold about a QUARTER of ONE of my levels for the game my team and I have been working on. The game is designed to have 9 levels.

Surely this couldn't be accurate? Its hard to build a game with so little space.

Resolved Questions / Tileset Jumbling/ mixed up

When importing a tileset or image I have created, it looks fine to begin (sometimes), when testing the game or saving and coming back to it, the tiles are all jumbled up and the scene is all mixed up.

Anyone know why this is and/or how to overcome it?

Hi,
I'm using the 'run and gun example' to base my game and have "converted" it to mobile. It still shows a cursor when testing the game and says it is for flash and mobile? How do I fix this?

Also, I set my mobile game settings to run the game landscape because it is a platform game. When testing the game it shows it vertical. How do I get it to play properly?

Ask a Question / Large Backgrounds

Hi,
I'm trying to import large images as backgrounds and build my scenes mainly with my backgrounds and then use invisible blocks. But when I import the images, I go to add the layer to the background but it gets stuck on importing. If it does import to the background, when I go to save the back, it freezes on saving.
I also get the 90% memory warning, not sure if this has any impact on the problem or not. I downloaded the .exe that is meant to solve this problem but it hasn't worked either.

Help would be much appreciated. :)
