I think I have a working fix that does a release on the old & retain on the new every time you assign strings.

I'll send it over via e-mail soon.

Hello JON I think I have the same problem not sure... May I ask what the FIX was ?

Well, the joystick behavior should make your actor move like that. So yeah, this is for real. Just sanity checking: You are testing in the Simulator or on a device, right? The joystick behavior does nothing if you test in Flash.

There is also a pre-shipped On Screen Button that lets you simulate key presses. Some people reported problems with it in regards to multi-touch. I believe this problems have been fixed in the 3.0 beta (in the engine and the behavior.) Since you have a Studio license, you might want to give the 3.0 beta a try.

dude so i figured out how say this should = so and so button... But Can you explain to me how or what the joystcik right left up and down are ?

I mean if i want to say:

"when the joystick is pressed to the right" how do i say that ? ty again for ure help!!

Ask a Question / Re: Why won't these touch controls work?

At a glance, it seems OK, but I'd need to see the full game (you can e-mail me) to see what's hooked up to the buttons.

You may want to peek at the "On Screen Button" behavior on StencylForge for our official implementation of an on-screen button that has the benefit of hooking up to the Keyboard/Controls system and works nicely on both Flash and iOS.

I have tried this method and I need help please...

I have my main player moving via up, down, left, right arrows on the keyboard

I need behaviors for these, so far every time i have tried it moves once and does not stop moving and than they dont work again... :|

I have been at this for days please help with this simple task...

all I need is up, down, left right on screen controls in relations to the arrows on the keyboard.

Umm this didnt work or I didnt do it right... :(

At  this point if would settle for simple on screen TOUCH buttons that I can just use.

I have tried with no luck. I make an actor - and say when touch input "right" button

but that my player moves to the right a bunch of times stops and all the buttons stop working...

How can I make a simple up, down, left, right, buttons that when touched they would work like the arrow keyes on the keyboard ?

i should specify i have tried many ways of doing this including adding boolean attribute do just once, as well as other stuff. nothing is working lol is it normal for this to happen ?

Do you want to switch animations based on the direction the actor is moving (when using the joystick to move)?

In that case you can simply copy the animation switching code from the 8 way movement behavior to the joystick movement behavior. Put the code as shown in the screenshot at the end of an "always" event (after any blocks that control the movement.)

1st let me just thank you so much!

I will try this after I eat something:| Nothing I mean nothing has worked for me, and also when I move my player with just a joystick behavior it rotates all over the place... I have even tried making on screen buttons for up down left right but no luck...

Still I am excited to try this  method thank you so much!!

Paid Work / A much need behavior ?
« on: February 10, 2013, 09:01:07 am »
Hello stencylers I need and I think it would benefit everyone to have a behavior that works like the 8 way move but with the onscreen joystick for IOS

* either by making a behavior that says when the joystick is pressed to the right activate right button input

or

* activate this animation for the actor...

I have been trying to make this with no luck, anyone ?

I am not the smartest stencyler but I believe there is a block under input mobile only ?! I think

best of luck dude ! :D

Resolved Questions / Re: Reset your game
« on: February 01, 2013, 07:14:58 pm »
You can just use a game attribute setter. When the game ends, set your game attribute (i.e. "Level") back to 0 (or whatever it starts at).

Bro ure advice was perfect thank you!!! :D
