I think its because you saying if up=false set Y speed to 0, I assume your down one says of down=false set Y speed to 0. that means that even if up is true, because Down is false the game is setting the speed to 0.

Why don't you just attach the onscreen button behaviour that comes with stencyl to the controls.

there is a block for "scene name"

so you can do,

if scene name = Scene 1
do stuff

what are your hopes for this project, is it just for fun?  the answer to that will decide what feedback I will give.
My hopes are to make an addicting and compelling game which involves hand-eye coordination and fast reaction.

I can give you feedback on that when I get hands on with the game. What I was looking for was if you wanted the game to be commercially successful. The main thing is you finished a game, which is not an easy thing to do, so well done for that. Also if you have managed to tackle all the apple stuff to get it on device, that is another good achievement, it can be very tricky.

However, if you are hoping for a commercial success, In terms of how the game looks, I think it needs quite a bit of work. Have a look at the past featured games from stencyl, have a think about how does your art style stand up against those games. Browse the App Store and look at the features list, try to get an understanding of what apple is looking for from a polished indie game.

it could be Xcode related, maybe you can look into if you can roll back to 8.1 or something. Your logs show "Cannot mount developer disk image" as an error.

Also the xspeed should be on the left side. Currently you have if 0> xspeed

Can you show is a screen shot of what your actors animation frames look like, Do you have a left and right animation for it that are named correctly?

Banner ads are best used on games where they will be in the screen for a long time, like a card game where a play session lasts for like 10mins plus. Interstitial pay more since they are bigger and the player can't ignore it, they literally have to close it to get past it.

Ok couple of things, the polish is amazing, bursting with personality, I love the faces you can choose and the little crowd that turns up is such a nice touch.

The tweet link is 6 characters longer than you are allowed so I had to edit it before I could share.
The count down text seems to have a rounding issue, try rounding the x and y of where you are drawing it, or use a different font.

I think the difficulty ramps up too slowly on all the games accept the Short hop. The fruit squash was really slow, I scored 52 on my first attempt.

Overall is a really nice game, I think the banner adverts on game over are going to struggle to make you anything, I would have went with a full screen interstitial.

Looking forward to what you do next!

This game is amazing well done! love the personality in it, so many little touches that make it feel alive. going to play a bit more then give you some feedback.

Yeah ill allow that, if you can make it fit with the "rule". However as its a mechanics jam, a single screen tech demo has just as much chance to win as a 10 level game etc. Im not expecting to see real games like in other jams, more concepts or mechanics that could maybe be part of a game in the future etc.
