Ask a Question / Re: Make the actor follow mouse, but also keep moving up?

I can't open the file...

did you take this file from one of the stencyl folders or did you export the file as a game?

Sadly it hasn't work again, and again I did everything exactly the same way as you did.

I'm really starting to get worried since these are the types of problems that cause me to give up on majority of my games, and I really don't want to give up on this one.

P.S. This is probably the only problem I'm gonna run into in this game since it's quite a simple concept and by now I have a good amount of experience with stencyl, so as soon as I can get this problem fixed I will be able to torpedo through the rest of the staff. :)

P.P.S. I can't find the "move camera center" anywhere, I can only find "move camera"

For some reason I still get spawned at the top without the circle, and I did the exact same thing.

Also where should I attach the "set  y-speed  to  -10  for  self"
In the "Always" event or in the "when created" event?

How do I adapt things.

Could you please show me a screenshot of what it's supposed to look like, because I have the "set x to x of mouse - half width of self.", but I can't connect it to the "Boolean=True". (see attachment).

"what is not working?..."
I'm still being spawned at the top of the scene, this time even without the circle.

I've changed the velocity to y-speed and I'll re-attach both the event and behaviors since they were a bit cropper last time.

Still not working.

I'll put in all the scene's events and the actor's behavior.

At first I thought it would be pretty simple, but I was wrong. I'm making a game where you have to go through levels by avoiding the walls with a character that is a small circle controller with the mouse.

I want the character to continually go up until he reaches a bigger circle at the top of the scene, the scene is 1920 pixels high and 480 pixels wide. After he reaches that bigger circle it's gonna trigger a small window with options, "Main Menu", "Level List" and "Next Level".

What I'm having problem with is whenever I test the scene, I either spawn at the top of the scene and I can move the small circle or I spawn at the bottom of the scene without the small circle.

I have the pre-made "Follow mouse" actor behavior changed to a scene behavior, so that the character only follows my mouse when in the level scenes, since I'm using the same character for the menu screen as the "." above the "I" in the title.

I can add screenshots of what I have in the events page if that will help solve the problem.

Thanks in advance. :)

Ask a Question / Re: Walking in mid-air?
« on: June 05, 2014, 12:32:47 pm »
Sorry... I'm such a f****** idiot! ;)

I forgot that the ladder tiles had collision, so I just gave them "no collision" and it works fine. :)

btw, since we're talking about movement, do you know how to make the character go up by himself until he reaches a certain point?

P.S. thank you for your reply. :)

I don't know why but it's not working. :(

I'll try making a completely new game and I'll do it there to see if it's something in my game that's stopping it from working.

Ask a Question / Walking in mid-air?
« on: June 05, 2014, 10:47:09 am »
I used the pre-made "back and forth horizontal movement" behaviour but it doesn't seem to work. I think it's because nothing is hitting the player from the bottom and so he's not on the ground. However I want him to be in mi-air while walking because he's supposed to climb a set of ladders and be able to move left and right between them.

So if anyone knows how to make a mid-air walking or mid-air horizontal movement actor behavior, please help.

Thanks in advance. :)

Ask a Question / Re: Move camera to player doesn't work?!
« on: June 05, 2014, 08:25:28 am »
It works now! :D :D :D

I see what was wrong, in the actor's event page I had "make player always active" and since in the properties of the actor, the type was "Actor" not "Player" what I think was happening is that it was getting an error that didn't show up and that caused the actor not to appear.

Thank you all sooo much for all the helpfull replies! :) I wouldn't have figuered this out if it wasn't for you guys!

So thank you, you saved my game! :D

If you go up the topic conversation, you will find a screenshot that shows the event page of the character (it has the "move camera to self" block).

On a separate note, I found out what's wrong... The actor isn't spawning at all! Yep! I know... weird, I found that out when I put the actor on top of the scene and tested the game. this is why nothing seems to be working.

Now I just have to find out why the actor isn't there when I test the game.

P.S. this topic is still open, so if you have any suggestions please let me know. :)

I'm sorry but you just confused me.

I'll quote the parts of the reply that I don't understand and say a little bit under them.

"the size of your scene has nothing to do with the size of your screen (apart from how big your actors will be on screen)."

                                                                                             V
The Screen size is what you can see from the scene, the scene is the level. I went to settings and my Screen size is 640x1136pixels. My scene is 640x22720 pixels because the character is going to move from the bottom of the level to the top... it's basically like one of those games where you shoot and upgrade a rocket to get to the top of a meter that's usually in those games to show where the player is.

"if you just set the game size to 640x1136 then you can start with the basic amount of tiles and expand from there on."

                                                                         That's what I did.
