I was wondering, how much did you earned with this game?

Ask a Question / import game removes a part of the script
« on: July 29, 2014, 05:23:04 am »
Hey all,
My colleague and i are making a card. We both made some scenes so we can import both scenes into 1 game later on.

The problem is that some scripting code of a scene is removed when i import the game of my colleague.
The other games (from stencyl forge) i imported worked just fine. Why can't we put our game together?

Please help us. If you need more info or data please tell us.

Thx

Ask a Question / scale problem
« on: May 28, 2014, 11:45:12 am »
Hey guys,

We got a strange problem.
We are making our game on a 640/480 scale. The assets are imported at a larger resolution and scaled down to the max. (4x)
In the actor properties everything looks fine. But when i scale the actor in the scene, the actor is pixeled again.
It seems like a bug. Or has it something to with the settings of the game?

Thx

Paid Work / game artist looking for a programmer for collaboration
« on: May 15, 2014, 08:58:17 am »
Hello

My name is Joris. I'm a game artist looking for a programmer to start some projects.
Feel free to check my port folio @ http://vangoidsenhoven.weebly.com/

Personal goals:
- improve my skills in 2D art
- experiencing the entire video game process from start to finish
- starting a game dev studio

Project info

Name: Raminnen

Focus: A rummy variation with a classic card deck and a poker feeling.

Rules:

3 to 4 players compete to get the highest score.
In each turn a player must draw a card, can play combination and must withdraw a card in that order.
When a player or the deck runs out of cards, the game ends.

If you would like more information about the rules, feel free to contact me.

Project status:
- the game is tested as a non-video game in the pre-production fase.
- the design of the cards and the deck
Scripting done:
- card deck is made and shuffled
- cards are dealt
- card are added to players hand (unbugged)
- drag and drop (behavior is still in conflict with the "added to players hand" event)
- players turn

unexecuted tasks:
- card combinations
- point system added
- AI added
- animation created
- sound added to game

Additional Info:

I'm hoping to find a programmer so i can focus on the game art.
Although this is a fun game, it is fair to say that this is a project where you should not expect a great success. This project is intended to create a partnership. The revenues that are created will be used to start a new project.
Therefore I am also open to similar concepts. Are you already working on a project and are looking for an artist? I have no problem helping you to finish your project first.
Finishing a game is one of my goals. It does'nt have to be one of my ideas.

Why don't you load everthing at the start of the game? Is your game that big?

For me when I did that I would get an initial load time of about 5-6 seconds before the game starts. It's a viable issue that needs a better solution than mine especially when it comes to mobile.

Lol. 10 years ago, the loading of a playstation 1 game could take a few minutes. Are kids that impatient these days?
Maybe you can play a short animation or something while the game is loading?

Resolved Questions / Re: If somethings happens... then what?
« on: May 02, 2014, 01:39:35 pm »
Thx for the reply guys.
@Sdieters
The behavior is that from another actor. And yes i never set "player turn" to 2. This event should be triggered when the value of  "player turn" is changed.

Also, you are triggering an event that is equal to the "default" value of the attribute Player's Turn, not the text "Player's Turn."

Seems like i can't trigger an event by using an number attribute.  However, an "If Boolean" block is triggered when something sets the value of that boolean to true. Even if the boolean already is true.  :-s

I solved the problem about the same as like wowlex suggested.
I made a new boolean, "next turn" and a new block, "When next turn is set to true".
At the end of this event i just set "next turn" to false again.

Thanks for the responses all. You have saved me a lot of frustration. ;-)

Resolved Questions / If somethings happens... then what? [solved]
« on: May 02, 2014, 12:55:50 am »
Hi

I got a noob question for the programmers. I want to set the turns of a player. If playerturn = 1 then it's player 1's turn etc.
I added a screenshot. I thought it would work but it does'nt. What am i doing wrong?

I also encountered blocks like : If boolean
If boolean is what? True? False? Wiping his ass? ... What the hell does this mean?

I thought it meant "when this attribute is changed". But in my case, it clearly is'nt.

Some help would be much appreciated.

Ask a Question / Re: change collision with code
« on: April 26, 2014, 07:14:28 am »
Thx for the reply.

I got 1 actor with 52 animations now. Changing it to 52 actor types with 2 or 3 animation each would make things even more complex.
So if you don't mind sending me that extension or code, i would be very grateful.

Ask a Question / change collision with code
« on: April 26, 2014, 02:25:06 am »
Hey guys,

I was wondering  if it's possible to change the collision of an actor with code.

For example: set "x" of collision of "actor" to "something"

Ask a Question / Grab actor at front or at the top layer.
« on: April 23, 2014, 11:12:44 pm »
Hey guys,

As you can see on the picture, the cards are on top of eachother. The problem is if i grab a card in the middle, i start to drag 2 cards.
I only need to drag the card at the top layer.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thx

Ask a Question / Strange behavior when dragging 2 items
« on: April 21, 2014, 01:00:31 pm »
Hey all,

I'm making a rummy like card game.
I have 1 actor with 52 animations for all cards.
When a card actor is created, item 0 of the decklist is added to the players hand list and item 0 of the deck is removed. The last created actor then slides to his place.

You can see the code for when a card enters the region of the players hand.
I also added a DragAndDrop behavior to the cards. When i drag a card outside the region, the card is removed from the players hand list. When it enters again, it is added to the list.
The code works.

When i pick a card in the middle of the row, i also drag the card below that one. And that's when the trouble starts.
After a few drops outside of the region, the cards start sliding to the players hand themself, sometimes adding the wrong cards to the list.

I don't seem to have the problem when i drop just 1 card outside the region.
One solution is to adjust the drag and drop behavior, but i don't know how to do that.
Maybe there is another way to fix this problem? Changing the collision of the actor when it enters the region or something?

Some help would be very much appreciated.
