Ask a Question / Re: Are actors killed automatically after fade out?

Remove the "do after..." code and create this event in the events tab of the Feelgood actor.

yeah I got it to work thanks!

Yeah I'm trying something like that but the created character doesn't seem to die.  (I set the fade time to be pretty long and the kill time to be pretty short just so I can test if its dying or not).

Everything seems to work here except the created character doesn't die.   Confused.

Actors are NOT automatically killed after fade out.

hm that makes things a little more difficult for me, thanks

This might be a dumb question but if I create an actor and I have it fade out is it automatically dead after fade out or do I need to kill him?

Ask a Question / Re: How to randomly spawn large list of actors?
« on: November 17, 2016, 07:03:38 pm »
You can get away easily with generating random numbers between 1 and 100.

If it's okay for you to give each actor names based on a number (actor1, actor2, actor3), it's easy. When you need to spawn an actor, do this:

If that's not possible or if it makes things harder to do, you'll need to put all the actor types  in a list, each actor then gets a number based on it's position on the list. When you've got the list, this should do the trick:

Thank you very much!

Ask a Question / How to randomly spawn large list of actors?
« on: November 15, 2016, 03:09:20 pm »
Hello, I'm not new to Stencyl but i've been out of the loop for a while and very rustyyy

I want to create a game where random actors spawn from the top and fall to the bottom.

I understand I can do it with random number and  "if" blocks.. this is good if you have a rather small number of actors you want to spawn, but I want to choose randomly from 100 actors.

Would I do this with a list?  I am totally lost how to do it.     Can someone explain like I'm 5?

Does it work for you?  It seems to still freeze for me.  My initial tests were just disabling data on my phone and that seemed to work fine but when I just go out of service... it still freezes.  :/

My initial tests show that you have fixed it!  Really love the speed on how things get taken care of..

I turned on airplaine mode, and also turned of data.   Didn't freeze.  I'll test more in the morning.

There still is the issue of it glitching out when it IS connected to the internet.  I will send you the file in PM if you want to mess with it.  There is very little code in this.

Thanks again!

Ok. I committed a possible fix for this (b8186). The latest build shouldn't be too buggy anymore. ;)

Hey man thanks.  I'll let you know what happens.    Does this mean I can download this fix now or do I have to wait till its released tomorrow or something?

With which build and which platform?

I'm using 8085 and windows 8.  Haven't updated in a bit because the last time I did it was buggy.

Anyways.   Just like OP says my game (just a scrolling background really) will freeze while waiting for the information.  (in my case its a Bitcoin price from an exchange).  If there is no internet connection it will usually freeze for 5 or so seconds before starting up again.   If there is an internet connection, there is a split second freezing, which is annoying but I just thought that is something I cant do anything about.  It would be great if that could be solved too.   :)

If you think an update will solve it let me know.    Don't really want to put my app out if someone might run into this.

Ask a Question / Re: How to make copy to clipboard button?
« on: February 11, 2015, 05:10:41 pm »
Here's some basic code you can use. You can set 'Text' to the text you wish to copy to the clipboard.

Any way to do this on android?

Did you also read this post from there?
Code: [Select]
If this is secret information that must not fall into the hands of your users, you cannot secure it. It is fundamentally impossible to put information on a device (code or data), and have your application access it, but not allow someone with the device to have access to that information.

Encrypting the information is pointless from a security point of view, because your application has to contain whatever is needed to decrypt it in order to use it, and a sufficiently motivated attacker can always extract that and decrypt it on their own.

All you can do is make it more annoying and time consuming to get access to that information, which only helps if there's not really that much of a need to keep it secret. This is what using proguard to obfuscate your .apk file can do.

I need to switch gameplans then thanks guys

Well apparently they have found an easier way nowadays. The way they do it is probable still with a hexeditor, but automated. But if you have done so much research to it already, why still ask?

Well because I'm relatively new and I didn't know if there were some tips and tricks to make it harder.

I found this.  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6235290/how-to-make-apk-secure-protecting-from-decompile

But of course I really do not know how to translate that stuff to stencyl.  :D

Yes if you know how to brake down a game with a hexeditor, you can do it. Bit IF someone would ever do that, you will not be able to do anything about it. A hexeditor will break everything down to bytes, bypassing every single protection you would use. But this is happening at Bit level, which rarely will happen.

So what about stuff like this?
