Archives / Improved Camera Blocks
« on: October 01, 2012, 01:08:32 pm »
EDIT: I noticed that Greg has a cutscene example kit that can work as well as the first block.

Two blocks I'd like to see for the camera are:

Code: [Select]
zoom camera to []% for [] seconds
-and-

Code: [Select]
rotate camera to [] degrees for [] seconds
The second one is a little more specialized and not as important, but is great for rotary games like They Need to be Fed and Airscape.

Old Bugs (1.x/2.x) / Mochi ads appear when testing scene
« on: August 26, 2012, 12:26:02 pm »
I found that if you have the mochi preloader enabled then it will show up when you are testing a scene. This only occurs when you have the "Always allow" setting in the Flash player global security settings, as recommended by the stencylpedia article.
This can easily be avoided temporarily by switching the preloader settings to the default setting, but it's still a bug, and there should be a fix.

Export the game again to the chrome web store and make sure when you specify the version name it says "1.0" or "0.1", something understandable and made of numbers and decimal points only.

I had already resolved this and forgot to update it. I was just using the sliding blocks, and somehow that messed it up, which is why now I am using the x-speed blocks and it works.

Chit-Chat / Re: The Great List of Programs to Use with Stencyl

anyone knows how 2 get pxtone?

Here's where you can download it:
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA022293/pxtone/
I would use google chrome to translate the page, since it's in japanese.

Also, here's a tutorial:

What if the code block in 3.0 had a dropdown menu, so you could select which platform specific programming language you want to type in (ActionScript, Java, Javascript, etc.) and there would be a small icon next to each showing what platform the code would work on (Flash logo, Android logo & iPhone, HTML5 shield, etc.) like the user input blocks already. Even though this limits the platforms you could work with at a time, it could allow you to have more freedom in that specific platform.

Just a thought :)

This looks awesome! Did you use the POST and GET blocks to connect to the server, or did you use pure Actionscript?

I was randomly browsing around sourceforge and I found a program that lets you run linux distros on android:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxonandroid/?source=directory

This sounds like a crazy idea, but this means you could feasibly run Stencyl (the application, not the games made by it) on android.

I have no idea if this even works, but I'm just giving a thought. It might be hard to press those tiny buttons in the GUI anyway.

EDIT: I am not talking about multitasking. I am simply suggesting a button in the GUI that would return you to the welcome screen.

Saw it today, it was great!

The most informative part I found was in the super meat boy part where the guy was discussing level design.

I was thinking about a wrapper for the web site so that credit can be carried through games and spent, but I've really no idea how to do this at the moment.
Try web requests, if you know how to use them, and have it save the credits as cookies or go in-depth with an account system.

Funny, I was wondering this too!

I recommend the movie, too.

He wants to be able to edit more than one game at a given time (being able to into the main menu to open another game)
I meant what froz said. I must have not noticed that.

However, I still think there should be something in the GUI that does that same function.

I've found it annoying that if I want to work on another game while already editing a game I have to quit and reopen Stencyl. There should be a tiny back arrow or other icon in the corner of the menu bar next to "Create New" or some other way to go back to the "My Games" screen.

EDIT: I am not talking about multitasking. I am simply suggesting a button in the GUI that would return you to the welcome screen.
